Any good way to tell if a cartomizer has gone bad without wasting juice?

When my vapor production gets too low I first try swapping out or charging my battery and dripping more juice into the carto I'm using before, and when those things don't work it then becomes clear that the carto has given up the ghost. By that time though I have wasted up to a carto's worth of juice to fill what I now know is a dead carto. On the flip side, I don't want to discard a carto before making sure it has no life left in it because I don't want to be wasting a still good carto either.

Is there any way to avoid this wastage of juice? Or is that just a necessary evil?

I use an Ohm meter. this is not the only place to get it, but it was the first that came up and it's the same price I paid for mine. https://www.pbdragon.com/lair/accessories/189-cartomizer-and-atomizer-ohm-meter.html
you just screw the atomizer or cartomizer on, and if it comes up with a 1, then it's gone bad. If it shows close to what it started out with, then you may just need to clean it.

Thanks! That seems to answer the question I was posting right when you posted this.

That is pretty much how I do it. If the battery is a good recharged one and it has e-juice in it and it still will not give good vapor production, I throw it away and start a new one. Inside of a carto is the coil with what is called a diaper wrapped around it and then the wicking material wrapped around the diaper. What usually happens is the coil burns thru the diaper and makes a hole in it and will no longer bring fluid to the coil. There is no fix for that so I throw it away. There is a long thread here on the ECF ( Burning Cartomisers? Dangerous?) and shows the problem. The only way to slow this process is to keep the carto moist at all times because if it gets dry it will burn the diaper. So in my opinion you are doing the right thing. Take one apart after it quits performing and unwrap the layers and you will see for yourself. They only last so long and no amount of cleaning will bring it back. As far a saving fluid you can pull out the wicking material and place it in a syringe and squeeze the fluid out.

Hope this helps to understand how they work, and a new carto is way cheaper than ciggs.
