I don't mean to impose, but it might take me a day or 2 to figure this out and I'm hoping a more knowledgeable person may have done the leg-work already...

I'm a little concerned about how much nicotine I'm consuming as a 'vaper' compared to how much I was getting as a smoker. I understand nicotine effects the heart/circulatory system and I don't want to consume too much. Not something I care to mess with.

If I were a PAD smoker, how many milliliters of the juice would provide the equivalent nicotine at say 8, 12, 18, etc. mgs? I'm sure this has been discussed ad-gymnasium before, in fact I think I saw a thread about it recently, but I'm a searchin' fool and I'm not sure I could find the thread. Do feel free to post a link!

You guys are the best!

ok, so here's the problem: there is no way to know how much nicotine you are absorbing when you vape because the absorption has so much to do with how you are actually physically doing it. The nicotine is absorbed through the mucous membranes in your mouth, cheeks, throat, etc... so if you and I sat down together and vaped the same liquid on identical devices we would each end up getting a different amount of nicotine. Maybe you inhale directly to the lungs and I exhale through my nose without breathing in the vapor -- I would end up with more nic than you.

They say that a regular cigarette contains about 8-9mg of nicotine BUT nobody knows for sure how much is being absorbed by each user (some say it's around 1mg).

That being said; for the time being you should be worried about making sure that you are staying off the cancer sticks because we know for sure that it'll kill you, whereas we aren't sure that nicotine will. So if it
takes 26 mg to keep you clean do that, if it only takes 11 mg then great. You can always wean off the mg later when you're extra comfortable that you won't slip back into the cigarette addiction (which, contrary to popular belief, is very different from a nicotine addiction)!

Good Luck!

edit:
ps: to more directly answer the question-- if you are still having nic fits up the mg, if you are getting dizzy or nauseous lower the mg. Some PAD smokers are happy at 12mg, some are happy at 36mg. You won't know what works for you until you experiment with different strengths.

Thank you, Rosa. That was very informative. I've been smoke-free since getting my kits 3 weeks ago. Early on, I did want for a smoke now and then, but I hit the vape and that settled it.

I'm not sure I believe in tapering-off the nicotine. Years ago I heard of studies showing that 'full-flavor' smokers who switched to 'lights' compensated by taking larger drags, smoking more or holding the smoke in their lungs longer. So I'm thinking that if I drop from an 18mg juice to a lower one, I'd probably just hit the vape more often. If I try to drop nic altogether I think I'd do so by alternating nic juice with non-nic juice.

I understand it's difficult to tell how much nic an individual gets from smoke as compared to vapor. But I know that I've gotten 'nic-stoned' 2 or 3 times on the juice while I never did from tobacco. It would be good to know how much I'd gotten from smoke compared to vape, but I hear yas. Thanks for the insights!

I remember that study. Like everything else in life, YMMV. I used to smoke State Express 555 Internationals, and sometimes Lambert & Butler, Dunhill, and other British, German, and Canadian cigs. All very strong. When I switched to lights, and then ultra-lights, yes, I initially did exactly that -- I mean all of those things. But I gradually reduced down to the same usage. I got to the point where I was smoking 1/2 an American Spirit Ultralight at a time, and not even a PAD. Still took vaping to get me 100% off of them.

Rosa is exactly right. I use 18mg liquid, which most people would say is too high coming from ultra-lights. Well, I smoked for 29 years, I think I have a high tolerance. Or low absorption maybe. I dunno. I can vape 24mg, though not all day. I'm actually a little curious how I'd react to a pyro stick now. Probably get light-headed, but that'd be more from the carbon monoxide than the nic, I think.
