i had not smoked for 25 years. was a jarum international smoker. but after all this time i want to do the smoking ritual again. and am now a vaper. but only 0,6 or 8 mg - have decided the right strenth yet.

any one else start vaping from a blank slat as they say?

I know someone who had only smoked a few cigs in his life, and he bought a 510... I have no idea why he'd buy these e-cigs knowing he'd probably get hooked, he could have just stayed away.

Yeah, RR - that I cannot understand but I can understand why an ex-smoker would "get back in the game" so to speak with e-cigs/PVs

I quit analogs 5 years ago, haven't touch one since and don't ever intend to again. I recently got into vaping and don't regret get the decision. I only vape 0mg and am loving trying out the different flavours and experimenting with DIY.

I was a pack a day smoker and I don't think I was ever really addicted to the nicotine but just got addicted to the routine of smoking and I enjoyed it. After abou 5 years of smoking when I starting sensing that my health was starting to be affected I decided to give em up cold turkey. I generally have very strong will power and therefore I suceeded in giving up. Im thoroughly enjoying vaping, IMO I don't think that vaping poses any real health risks and Im certain I can stop anytime I want so for now I will continue to enjoy it...

I've read a fair number of posts from ex-smokers who begin vaping zero nic for exactly the same reasons.

Here is an interesting situation, where a guy that didn't smoke started vaping nicotine for his health. There are also many others that vape nicotine to control symptoms of ADD and other disorders. I have also read a few posts by non-smokers who just decided they would enjoy some flavorful zero-nic vaping as a "hobby" or something. Of course, they are immediately assaulted by hordes of would-be nannies trying to tell them what to do, so they seldom post about it in General Discussion.

A case of do as I say, not as I do ;)

Yep, and watching some of those threads derail so predictably is like watching some ironic tragicomedy in slow motion. Lecturing an adult about nicotine addiction on this forum? Wow. It's disappointing, because I think it would be interesting to read their stories develop over time.

EDIT: I just realized that my comments could be misconstrued as being critical of other comments in THIS thread, so just to be clear: I'm talking about full-on hysterical nanny invasions that (IMO) I've seen in similar threads.

I quit analogs twenty odd years ago too. I wanted to help the son of a friend that died from smoking. In my research into the ingredients used in ecigarettes,I found that nciotine was not only the main cause of addiction, but that taken in small amounts could be benifitial. It triggers the brain and has been known to repair stress related brain injuries. It also is found that those who smoke do not have as much a risk for Altzheimers and Parkinson's disease. I fid myself more capable of handling problems than before I started Vaping. I got my friend's son on ecigs, and he constantl;y keeps me up to date on his progress. He keeps bragging about breaking records he has set before vaping . But nicotine is not the demon we are led to believe it is. To tell the truth I am not worried about the addiction. Because I have no intention to quit vaping.
