so i have 28g kanthal and i can't get the resistance i want with the amount of space i have. I'm rebuilding a pro tank coil and want to get to about 1.8 ohm. however to do that the 28g makes to large of a coil to fit. is there any way to increase the resistance, such as wrapping two pieces together and then wrapping a coil that way?

any help is appreciated

wrapping 2 wires will give you half the resistance, choose another smaller gauge of wire

Maybe you could try orienting the coil vertically instead of horizontally; and dont put the wick though it, just pad wick around it.

Have you considered doing a vertical micro coil. Saw a good how-to-video on youtube.

interesting idea, ill look into them

while I'm in here, does the pro tank 3 dual coil just add the resistance of the 2 coils. so for instance its a 2 ohm head, would each coil be 1 ohm a piece? or does it not work like that

I'm guessing you're already getting the coil as tight as possible (micro/nano). Do you not have higher gauge wire? That's the easiest thing to do. If you use 30 or 32 gauge you'd have more room to work with.

yeah i just had 28g right now, i have more 30 and 32 on the way, just wanted something to fiddle with in the mean time.

and the vertical coil was a great idea, seems to fit well. now just have to give it a go

Actualy you have it backwards. A 2 ohm dc has 2 4ohm coils inside

Actually its the other way around, dual coils split the resistance. Two 1ohm coils will give you a .5ohm build.

a 2 ohm dual coil means it has two 4 ohm coils in parallel.
