I used to have a super sensitive nose when I smoked, and now I've quit...its in overdrive mode constantly.

Sitting here a couple of days ago, I smelled something burning... specifically, wood. I searched all over the house, felt walls to make sure they weren't hot... etc. Finally, went outside and it almost knocked me over. Turns out someone THREE houses away from me was grilling out and had lit up the mesquite wood chips before putting the charcoal in.

Also, I used to be a big fan of the Febreeze candles...can't stand them anymore. TOO strong!

I have noticed a big difference and in a very short time; I still have many friends who smoke and I really notice it. I as well do not want to shun anybody due to the smell but it is hard!!

It effects everyone differently. I actually like the smell of tobacco smoke -- always have, even when I was a little kid. It just smells pleasant to me, like a particular kind of wood smoke -- which it kind of is, so I don't mind it really. But some people just can't stand the smell once they've quit. In such cases you just have to either put up with it or politely remove yourself from the area. I know it seems like you might be being rude, or that you're being "that guy" who hates smoking now, but you can't help how it smells to you. That's just how it is.

Oh, yeah, super big time difference. It's like night and day. I had a great sense of smell before, my wife usually relied on my honker for burned foods, etc and I enjoyed foods, and had a great set of taste buds though I'd smoked for 35 years, but now everything has a deeper richer fuller smell, and my meals do taste better but thank God it's not overdrive mode.....that WOULD drive me crazy. My wife is a truly fantastic cook so now I have to watch out for that extra 20 lbs ex smokers seem to gain!!! I am like you Mindfield, I can pick up cig smoke from really far away now and though it doesn't make me sick or anything, I really don't like the smell anymore---I've lost any & all desire for analogs. And when somebody that smokes walks by.....wow, is THAT what I used to smell like??? Analog free for 20 days and vaping for 2.5 months. Thank you ECF!

Heck yeah! About 2 weeks into vaping I started smelling food better (and it helped that my sinuses were staying clear for the first time in a decade). I also got ravenous briefly and we went to a good Asian buffet and I totally pigged out. My fiance was done his DESSERT and was still up to my elbows in butter and these huge whole shrimp (like small lobsters) that smelled/tasted slightly like lobster. Plate after plate. hahaha
