My third set (in rotation) of married VTC4s just got a divorce. One of them became dented at the top and I have layed it to rest. I charged the "good" partner to be used in single batt mods moving forward. No issue on charging, and no heat generated. I just took it out this morning and noticed the little guy now has a "birthmark" that I don't remember being there before:

Anyone seen this before or can tell me what this is? Should I put this one down too? Thanks in advance!

Edit: I found this thread Ejuice trapped in battery wrap
But I'm fairly certain no liquid got into the battery wrap...

This is pretty common to be seen, especially in the Sony batteries for some reason. Lots of ideas what this is from. Some folks suggest it is where the insulator wrap has become detached from the cell wall and has created an air bubble under the wrap.

Regardless, seeing this phenomenon is normal.

The only way to be sure is to pull the wrapper and inspect it. If the case looks good and the stain is benign or just an air bubble, then rewrap it.
Good point. I'll attempt my third rewrap with this little guy.

Thanks for the link bsidb. I actually have about 10, or so, clear pre-cut wrappers left over from my last illumn purchase and a few IMR wrappers from the few purchases with them. Hopefully I don't screw up on that many and have to follow your link;)

Clear wraps do not show holes or tears
understood. I pay close attention to the two that I rewrapped. I printed a bunch of inserts to stick inbetween the wrapper and the batt (trust me @Mooch they do not have anything pointing to you:) ), and I try to keep the terminal protectors in place. I'll be sure to keep a watchful eye on the edges, Thanks Sonic.
