I am only charged tax when the company I am purchasing form is also in IL. I believe you are supposed to self report on your tax returns each year..........(Starting this year actually)
It has actually supposed to have been reported for years. I buy my soap/candle stuff on line. Since I have a business license as long as I don't use it for personal use I'm good. Anything I use for personal use I have to deduct and pay taxes on. It only has become prevalent because they placed it on your tax forms this year because people either didn't know they were supposed to do this or were ignoring it.
Great so more money being ripped out of my pocket. Bad enough they doubled the tolls next year and raised every tax out there. Hope to catch up on a meet sometime.
Yup, by law, wherever you take possession, you must pay all applicable sales tax.
Retailers selling locally are required to collect and hold the tax at the time of sale. Retailers selling to remote locations are not required to do so, but this does not relieve you of your responsibility for all applicable taxes.
(I only know this because I have a relative in the legal field)
