The only time I liked them was when I first started vaping. The KR808 was my first PV so I didn't know of anything else yet.

Now I just can't get past the taste of cartos after being an avid user of 901s and 510s for the past few months.

Tried a carto out last week with my favorite juice and BLECCHHH!!! It was like taking my favorite soft drink, dumping it all over my shirt, then sucking it out of the fabric. No thanks. Don't even get me started on cartos at high voltage.

I just don't understand the praise for cartos. I've tried ones from V4L, Cigeasy, and Electronic ash and they're all the same IMO.

Maybe theres better ones out there now? I dunno.

I like them for when I'm out, I only need 2 or 3 cartos with me. They hold a lot of juice and don't leak. I have never had this awful taste people talk about. When the flavor drops off a bit, I just refill. I find dripping to be a nuisance. Of course above all i just wish I could get a cart to work for me. Nothing beats the flavor of a regular Joye 510 atty for me. Grant it, I've never tried a 901.

My 2nd e-Cig was a "Premium Electronic Cigarette". It was just an over priced KR808. I didn't like it because the OEM cartos didn't have much taste, no vapor and hard to draw.

After getting a 510 and now an eGo and doing all the silly cart mods and all the techs, I was close to giving up on all e-Cig. The burnt cart taste would come up every once and a awhile and just about make me puke.

By this time, I realized that an e-Cig is only as good as the juice you put in it. And I now had good juice from retailers and from my own DIY.

So I thought, I liked cartos because the were Much easier to use an none those crazyly mods were need. What if I put MY juice into cartos? So I picked up a pack of blank cartos for a 510.

This is when it all came together. Using my own juice, I had great taste, killer vapor and consistent hits.

Some people don't like cartos and that's ok. For me, with my own juice, they make carts look like junk and a complete waste of time.

I also moved away from KR808D-1 cartos to atty/cartridge for similar reasons. But having recently tried 510 cartos, I find them altogether better. Though there are two different makes - many prefer the make with the aluminum threads - both are greatly different imho from the earlier KR808D-1's that I used. But I've also read of great improvement in KR808D-1 cartos, such as the "Turbo" cartos from vapornine.

I agree. Thats one huge advantage. Especially when you're driving.

Dripping every 3 or 4 drags is a nuisance but for me the TH and flavor dripping offers is the deal breaker, so thats why I drip.

Maybe I'll try these 510 cartos out and see how those work. I'd like to not have to worry about dripping all the time.

Started with a Bloog and thought the cartomizers were good and they worked to get me switched to vaping.

Spent a couple weeks with an EVO and then tried to go back to cartos and couldn't stand the taste.

Moved to a 510 and haven't even wanted to look back to cartos for the most part.

I am however curious about the LR cartos that Provape has and may give them a try next time I place an order but I really can't see myself switching back from dripping.

I absolutely don't get the carto hype here on ecf. They are expensive, most of them burn their filling, making them hardly very healthy, annoying to refill, don't taste anywhere as good as even plain carts, not to mention dripping, and all that because people can't be bothered to spend about 30 seconds per hour to refill a cart?

Maybe a decent cartomizer could help some people who atm think vaping is complicated to switch to vaping, but so far, I haven't seen any.
And I most certainly don't get why so many people here think it's a good idea to recommend plastic burners to newbies. With the FDA looming over all our heads (because many countries would simply follow suit if vaping were prohibited in the US), shouldn't we try to make vaping safer, instead of telling every newbie that inhaling burned plastic is the best thing they can do?

Had one, tried it, disassembled & trashed it. Very cheap, just a resistor wire through the filling.

Some say they like the cartomizers for using in a car, however the carts are fast to change snap off/on & the atomizers last.

I don't know what cartomizers you've tried, but like I said before never had any burnt taste or bad taste for that matter. I have had burnt taste from carts and have melted carts. when I'm out for the day, I don't want to carry 6 carts and have a rag handy. I also will never drip in public. I get too many questions as it is.

I don't like Kr8 cartomizers (not tried the 510 cartos) as much as dripping into my penstyle atty, but the new ones (e.g., V4L's Premium, VaporNine's Turbo, CigEasy's Gold Label Deluxe) are quite good: outstanding vapor (rivaling the 510 atty) with a flavor that is as good as the juice you put into it. And dripping does get to be a pain in the tuchis sometimes. It's nice just to screw a prefilled carto on a battery and vape.

I don’t like the Blanket Concept of saying that Cartomizers burn their filling. Just like it’s not right to say that they don’t.

There are a variety of e-Cigs out there. Some use Higher voltages than others. Some are Manual and some are Automatic.

There is also a huge range of the way people vape them. Some take One hit and don’t take another for a minute or two. Some people have their PV duct tapped to their hand and Chain vape. And some will only refill when the carto does produce vapor at all while others refill constantly. Carto dripping without an end cap or as I have heard it called, “Tail Piping”.

And another huge factor is that cartos many times are not branded. If I order from off the same web site that I got my cartos from 3 weeks ago, is there any guarantee I will get the same ones made by the same manufacture? How can I even tell someone which type of carto I use?

So it all boils down to this for Me.

I have done a Carto-ectomy on every carto that I have retired. Some have just quit and some just don’t produce enough vapor for my taste any more. When I examine the inners of each carto I have never found any burned holes in any of the filling material.

What I have found in the cartos is a patch of brown gunk which looks like Caramelized Sugar. And this is much apparent from cartos that had Sweet or Creamy flavors in it. Ie: Caramel Apple, Mocha Coffee, Maple Raspberry, etc.

Maybe it is the way I vape them and or the Frequency at which I refill them but for me, using a 510 & eGo, I’m not getting any “burned plastic”. Period. End of Story.

Let me be Very Clear on this. Saying that My cartos are Not burning is Not Based on something I have read that Someone Else has written. It is based on about 30 Carto-ectomies of 3 different 510 cartomizers “brands”.

Can a Cartomizer burn the filling material. I really don’t see why it couldn’t. Using High Voltage, Vaping it when it is low on Juice, Vaping harder to wick juices like pure VG, Chain vaping with a short period of time between hits, cheap cartomizers. Perhaps all of the above?

The long and the short of it is they work Extremely well for me and they cost a Fraction of what I was spending on atomizers. And there is no need to jump thru all those hoops and do all those Silly mods only to get so-so results and poor life out of a cart.

Will they work as well for you as they worked for me. Will you like them as Much or Better than your carts. No way of telling. But it would seem that the average person can afford a 5 pack of cartos and try them for Themselves.

If you like them, Great. They are much easier and last much longer and are cheaper than carts/atomizers. If you don’t like them, well that’s Great to. Because you didn’t spend a ton of money on them and now you know.

Most prefilled KR8 cartoz I've tried have the oft cited 'underflavor' that simply doesn't go away. As noted previously there's a few V4L flavors that overcome/mask that.

Blank KR8 and 510 cartoz don't have that flavor. I use blank 510 cartoz on my wetbox and 5 volt Bartleby (and KR8 blanks on the Bart w/adapt.). No problems with either. The last vacation I used KR8 blanks on a 510 with an adapter for just the plane flight for at the airport and it was fine, but other than for use on the wetbox and the 5 volt (for the ohm rating vs. the 510) I prefer regular carts or dripping with delrin drip tips. IOW, except for those cases, I really don't have a use for cartomizers, esp. prefilled ones. I have done autopsies on about 40 prefillled KR8 (a few greencigs) cartoz and about half have some burn near the atty. Half were fine.

I recently cut a 510 carto from a wetbox just to see if there was any singeing and there was none. I think the reason for this is the placement of the needle tip from the bottle of the wetbox (a bottom feed) as it sits in the carto to where the atomizer area is kept constantly wet with each squeeze.

I have been using 501 atty's for quite a while. I got a wetbox with carto's and they have been great. I just keep them wet and the performance is there. I have been using the same one for two weeks and still going strong. I would have blow out the atty's every night or I would get a burnt taste. So far not so with the carto's

I pop the top off and add a drip tip...use them like I would a regular atty. I'm dripping/refilling just as much as I would a regular one really not seeing a difference.
(yes I've tried the condom, .... plug, swinging it around...even offering it compliments and a drink..)

Just like the fresh fill hit feeling...

Hey Thy, I bought a pkg of the Provape LR cartos and will be glad to send you one. These are my first experience with cartos on my eGo and I am not convinced to switch from LR attie and drip tip. They soak up a bunch of juice and don't seem to last nearly long enough until I get that burnt taste. They do give a much warmer draw on the vape.

PM me if you want to try one before buying.
