Anyone else want plastic tanks to make a comeback?

Don't get me wrong, glass is... Fine. No juice can crack it, but a drop sure can!

In the MTL market, I've seen a few companies, most notably vandy vape, offering ultem tanks with their kits(hell they give you glass, ultem AND metal with the Berserker Mini), but it's largely a practice that went out of favor a while ago

The biggest problem, in my opinion, is that the vaping industry moves so quickly with new gear that it can be tricky to find replacement glass for tanks later down the line, unless your tank of choice happens to also be insanely popular.

Think about it: Drip tips are interchangeable. Rebuildables counter the coil replacement issue. O rings are easy enough to find that'll fit your tank. But glass/tubes? Not so much. I have a feeling most people don't care, but I hate when I find a tank I love that doesn't have at least a metal sleeve option :(

What's everyone else's thoughts? Is glass the only material you use and/or care about?

The original developers of these had the first plastic tanks that I heard of that were eliquid safe

I use the Kabuki with the plastic tank. I love the look and feel of the quartz tank, but, life being what it is, I prefer plastic.
My pods are all made out of plastic.
I don't expect a comeback, plastic tanks are already here. All professional tanks have a plastic option.

Only the run-of-the-mill, fast-produced, hype-and-forget subohm tanks which comes without an option for polycarbonate, not even an aftermarket one.

I would love to see some plastic options for the baby prince tank, but as I enquired, it seems that tanks manufacturers are not tooled up for fast plastic production, and would be too expensive at the moment.

Regarding liquids that corrodes plastic tanks, I made a basic reasoning (being possibly wrong) that if the liquid corrodes the plastic, it can be bad for my body, so I don't use them.

Wow, really? Oxygen and sunlight are bad for plastic too. Are you giving up on oxygen and sunlight (vitamin D) too? Actually oxygen is bad for many things. It is highly corrosive.

Just to add to my post. Citrus flavours from Flavour Art, Citrus Mix and Cold Pressed Lime as well as Flavour West Black Licorice have been plastic/tank crackers. These have also been noted tank crackers/plastic as well as other concentrates that I can't at this moment recall. Those mentioned will cause issues with Chubby Gorilla bottles. The edges of them at the upper limits will show excessive crack damage and opaque crack discoloration. Contacted the makers of Chubby and got no reply. But, searched and saw issues with others complaining about the same issue.
Do a search as I did about Tank Cracker concentrates.

I have POM tanks and I use menthol ejuice, haven’t had any problems in the past 2 yrs. I take that back..... when the temp in the house reaches below 67, I do have a few crystals in my bottles and tanks until they heat back up.

    Edit... menthol crystals, not plastic

I've been using SV rda clones exclusively for about 3 years until the Berserker mini's came along. One of the things I don't like about RTA's is the glass. Replacement glass for the Berserker is available cheap on FT but if plastic was available I'd get some of those too. My SV rda clones appear to be discontinued everywhere. I'm glad to have them stockpiled. The same will happen to the Berserker mini so if I want an assured supply I need to store some extras including extra tank sections.

Having only polycarbonate tanks available when I first began vaping, I couldn't wait until manufacturers started to offer pyrex or glass tanks.

Many e-liquid flavors (most notably cinnamon and citrus flavors, but others, too) caused a chemical reaction which broke down polycarbonate, resulting in cracked or melted tanks. I observed a polycarbonate clearomizer literally melt into my hands while attempting to fill it with some strawberry lemonade e-liquid for the first time.

Some people felt that all plastic tanks caused a chemical taste to the vapor. Glass is chemically inert, so although relatively fragile, it is the best medium to hold e-liquids.

I wrote a blog a few years ago that dealt with polycarbonate plastic tanks. Something Safe for Cinnamon & Citrus Flavors Keep in mind that this was written in 2013 -2014.

I like my glass tanks, until they break. Which is rather inevitable in my opinion. If I can get replacement "whatever material" I do. I am not a fan of lemons, cinnamon and other notable plastic crackers (if they even still are these days.)

As to "leeching" well, I had the distinct pleasure of visiting a waste water treatment plan in high school, It was horrible, and that day they were filtering out a "dead person."

After that experience, I really stopped worrying about water. Not because it's not important, it is. But I sort of HAD to in order to continue drinking it.... and I still wonder if like, the school was paid by the manufacturers of "Evian" or something. (Which I quite like as it happens).

But I don't see leeching as being much of an issue anymore, to be frank.. Whatever plastic does to liquids, well, for water at least I know FAR WORSE things have been done to it.

I would LOVE if the water in my new location tasted remotely like filtered or even spring water sold in plastic jugs at Walmart. It is literally HORRIBLE, due to the high mineral content and well a bunch of other reasons I don't want to know.

I feel that way about plastic tanks, some stuff is just not worth bothering about and I will use glass until the moment it breaks and I kind of hate that I can't get acrylic for my sirens and I have a bunch of replacement tanks.

I liked that glass quartz with the kabuki until it disintegrated on its second fill because I looked at it funny.

I DO LIKE glass tanks with protective cages, those are the bomb although I have STILL been known to break the glass on them, so it's more of a band aid for me at least.

Well, this is nice! Seeing everyone with differing, but equally valid concerns on both sides of the debate

My new personal favorite tank is the coilart salt... I like the thing so much that I've even wrapped the upper portion of the tank in electric tape to provide a little impact protection(it's only 18mm... I'm not even sure there's vape bands that will fit!). Leaving just enough space at the bottom to have a micro juice window lol

Honestly, I'm confident enough with my MTL builds and juice consumption that I might even prefer steel options. Even if only as a backup I keep in my bag or car, just in case the worst happens with my glass sleeve. I don't mind paying for glass replacements, but I would like some peace of mind in the event the Salt(or any tank I like) ceases production in the future
