A guy I work with did here at work! In the Conference room he was vaping with his monster ( dont know the make , just that he can adjust voltage ) and the smoke detector went off. Fire Company came in too. Of course he played dumb and they just figured it was a faulty unit.

We work alone here most of the time and can vape away. I dont think I have to worry with my little Apollo battery.

I was wondering about that. I heard its a no go on an airplane but was wondering if anyone tried it in the bathroom and if it would set off the detector.

I haven't tried if because I know it could. Dust can too. Anything that leaves particles flying around in the air (including vapor particles) can set one off.

My work has the high tech fancy smoke detectors that go off with too much dust and are designed to detect all kinds of odd stuff down to the molecules. I tend not to vape anywhere near one of them just in case. While i can call off the fire company, its an auto dispatch system for fires and its just not worth the hassle. Plus i have to run to the emergency board to see if its not a REAL fire before i make the call.

I have tried at home with a battery operated detector and I did set it off but it did take a few good puffs up close and personal in my opinion the detector on a plane would be more sensitive and would go off easier so if ur gonna vape in the washroom blow ur vape to the floor and try to keep it mild IMO

Thats what I do in the mens room , direct the little vapor off my Apollo to the floor just in case.

Its something I hope never happens to me.....especially just after he did it here. The higher ups will become too suspicious.

I've vaped in a flight lavatory AND it didn't trigger the smoke detector. But then, I used a cigalike, exhaled as less as possible and directed it on my shirt's sleeves. However, if we use an APV and blow the vape towards the ceiling - I guess it'd be a scene better not tried.

Well that's good to know. I never tried it on an airplane because if I do end up in the bathroom, I want out as fast as possible. I hate those tiny smelly bathrooms.
