I'm mixed on that as someone who has an evic in the mail. Yes, it sucks but also I am guessing 99% of ecig companies wouldn't and haven't done formal recalls. We all know some shoddy crap has come out, v1's then v2's and so on. Or they all of a sudden go on clearance (looking at you TOX) after a slew of reviews saying they don't function properly.

I did wait until the reviews were out for the eVic and the software update prior to ordering. I am aware of the amp and volt limits, also that I may get 4.09 instead of 4.2 volts. I am ok with knowing these things, not so much with being surprised. I paid 99ish for the kit shipped.

My problem with the mid is the kit is 140 and then I read this

In order to expand the functionality of your device to enjoy revolutionary functions such as Real Time Variable Voltage and Real Time Variable Wattage, or programming, saving and executing arbitrary vaping waveforms, pulsation vaping, and much much more, you can purchase MiD software modules or bundles at HREF="http://www.midseries.com/store" target="_blank">Coming Soon from 15 January 2013 onwards.

and

When you receive your MiD "One", you will be able to run module based extended functionalities for a limited time, after which it returns to it's out-of-the-box status which you have paid for. There are many reasons we went the modular way with the MiD, but a few of the more important ones are: · We want our customers to only pay for what they use – rather than sell the MiD series with all functions enabled, which some customers wont be needing, this way we let the customers themselves decide.

So now if I get my mid and like it when it's in demo mode...it's going to lose features that I want and I am going to have to pay more money to get any of the features that make it cool in the first place. This is all assuming it does what it says in the first place.

So I am definitely in wait and see mode on it.

I wouldn't be worried about it, yes it can be a headache to have your mod recalled (and I am glad I decided to wait to get one) but that means they're taking care of business. It gives confidence in the company, especially one as successful as Joyetech.

That was kind of my point. We all see kind issues and then "silent revisions" with the onus being placed on the seller to deal with people who got the defective product, I am ok with the recall in principle, it is what it is.

The bigger point is that the eVic shows you should wait on new, especially new feature laden, products so you can at least know what you are actually getting. The Mid has more what ifs than it did, I would wait and see.

If true, the recent Joyetech announcement that the VV/VW editable time line pulsation will be available in firmware's version 1.2, I don't see any reason for me (I own a Evic) to buy the MID ONE. The Evic's upgrades are, at least until now, completely free of charge. I think Joyetech will kill the MID ONE with this new software release. Only the time will show, though...
