Just got mine in today from LF. Have a Riva 901 (which I absolutely ADORE) and wanted a 510 for more available options. Was going to go for the Riva Lite Bundle they have, but I'm more of a carto person now. They are currently out of the Riva 510 Carto Deluxe kit, so I called and talked to Ty a bit and narrowed down my options.

I was hesitant about the T-Rex as well (same reasons as you all) due to everything I've read about QC issues (mostly the batteries basically falling apart, and the button ring). But I'm willing to give it a fair shot. It's only a 650 battery, and rated at a (I believe, somebody catch me if I'm wrong here) steady ~3.2 - ~3.5v, but I'll give it a go. Will put it through it's paces tomorrow and see how it fairs.

But it was a good price and, as much as I loathe actual eGos in general, not bad in construction as far as I can tell. Things feel steady SO FAR, everything lined well, button feels good and sturdy. But keep in mind, most brands are going to have bad seeds in the batch. Some are more reliable than others in the long run, but there's probably gonna' be that one that got away. That goes for eGo, Riva, KGO, T-Rex, all the Big Batts boys.

I will say that I've had the LEAST amount of problems, on a personal note, with the Riva line. Again, only time will tell with this T-Rex I've got flashing red 'n green at me right now.

Good luck in finding something and let us know how it goes!

Keener, know its only been a few days, but was curious what you thought about the t-rex? I was kinda set on the Riva 510 SE but saw that the carto kit was out, so I did the same as you and talked to Ty and was recommended the T-Rex.

Not sure whether to go with the Riva 510 SE atty kit and just order some Boge carto's or to get go straight for the T-Rex carto kit and maybe get an atty to try that route, too.

I have the (steel) Trex 1100 mah and the Riva 510 SE 750 mah. Between these two, I prefer the Riva SE for my vaping since it is 3.7v. I do use the Trex more when I am going out though. It just looks so sleek and nice. Not a bad vape at all, just not as warm as the Riva SE.

As far as how well the Trex holds up. I do believe the reviews are old reviews. At one time, the Trex was having issues with batteries breaking and falling apart. As far as I can tell, they have been redone, though. Mine is solid. No issues at all. It performs how its is supposed to. The ring lights up when its supposed to. The battery lasts forever. I have found that some of my casual use juices actually do vape better at the lower voltage, too.

Just looking at some E-cigs including the riva, ego, and the T-rex. Anyone have a T-rex?

I got the 900mAh T-rex in April I believe. Retail box edition from a retail shop. My only ..... is the stock 2.5ohm addys are a tad tight on the draw. Solid at 1.7ohm 306 addies, and the Smoketek dual coil 1.5ohm. The charger I find a little fickle, sometimes I have to fiddle with the connection to get a solid charge light. I think this is due to dripping and juice is a little corrosive to the contact.

A spare 900mAh battery I picked up did have minor threading issues with the 306, and a very tight 510 addy. After the threads were broken in, no problem.

I "would" buy another one, but I opted to go NoEgo.

I agree with the above. So far I've put it pretty well through the ringer: dropped it, tightened cartos in a bit tighter than they ought be pushed, hammered at the button. The T-Rex has really taken some abuse and held up. I agree that the bad reviews must be older or either I got some good gumdrops in the bunch, 'cause these are both built like brick crappers. The button doesn't feel as solid and reactive as the Riva, and I agree that the vape is a bit warmer through the Riva, but overall I'd rate the T-Rex right under it (still prefer it over the eGo).

Of course, I'm comparing this to the Riva 901 (which, so far, I'm finding produces a bit more flavor and less vapor in general). I'm in the same boat on the Riva 510, and I'll grab one of those next if it kills me (famous last words).

But I wouldn't say you'd be disappointed with the T-Rex, at all. The SmokTech Dual Coils are monsters and brought my tobacco juices back to life. The lower volts on it doesn't seem to be much of a factor at all. Also got some LR Boges for it recently and those go just dandy with the T-Rex, as well. It seems like a good, warm tasty hit on the SmokTechs kicks in at about the 4-5 second mark and the vapor is good, taste is great. Didn't have much faith in the sweeter juices I have in the SmokTechs but those taste ace, too.

Should probably mention the free case, while I'm at it. Because it rocks and the convenience of it is something I've been missing out on for fa~r too long. No more messy pockets and hip-clicks, huzzah.

I'd like to give the bigg'un a run and see how it fairs. But I vape like a demon, and I run on a single battery from about 10AM through work 'til about 8AM when I get home, pop it on the charger and swap out.

Overall, yeah, I'm quite satisfied with it. The LB price on that kit?...unbeatable. For all the bad rep it got, I think the T-Rex is back from extinction and stompin' on my throat. Excuse me whilst I go make warm, foggy love to it again.

@Keener Is your T-Rex still going strong? I just ordered the same kit as you, mostly because of the cartos and the free case :p

Yep, still going strong. One of the two cones came loose from the metal band after I dropped it, but I just eased the slightest bit of JB Weld on it and it hasn't moved a muscle since. Only thing that's happened to me with it so far and, to be honest, I've treated them like brute work horses. I keep one pocketed as I work and the other + a loaded Riva 510 in the case on my work desk, swap 'em out through the day. All get pocketed, brutalized, dropped on concrete floors and gravels religiously, and keep going like an Energizer bunny.

So structurally, I have no complaints whatsoever (and I still like the light ring better than any of the button or tip lights I have so far).

What I will say now that I have several types, is I now use the T-Rex for my light, fruity and dessert vapes almost entirely. The lower volts, however minute they might be, are noticeable now compared to the other models in my stash and consequently I don't enjoy tobacco vapes on it like I do the slightly higher volted units. But then, I don't like my fruits and desserts getting toasted on those other units, either.

So, in the end, ol' T-Rex is still stomping around, usually in my pocket as I'm laboring around. She does great with sweets for my particular tastes, best of my personal units, and for that she'll always have a place in that nifty carrying case wherever I go. Ayup, I'd still recommend the T-Rex.

Well I'm coming from a Yeti/Joye 510, so this will for sure be better. Thanks for your review, appreciate it. The suspense until delivery is now building lol.
