Now that is just a laughable price ian/bob but as you say there will always be some daft bugger who will buy it. Sorry i haven`t replied to some of the previous posts, but i have got a banging bloody headache :( My eldest son came to help with putting our new floor down today, we started at 11.30 and finished at 17.30. All i have to do now is put the trim around, then job done.

In an empty room it would have been a lot bloody easier than moving all the furniture this way then that way then back again. So i won`t be on here long tonight i`m afraid. So bob considering all i use are kayfuns, would you rule out the i stick because of my ocd  Serously though, a kayfun on the mvp doesn`t look to bad, so what would you recommend me getting. Ideally, i am looking at getting a couple for now.

Just for you  I just took my KFL+ off my KSD Zmax and put it on the iStick, and actually it doesn't look too bad at all, BUT when it came to vaping it, that was a different matter, you will have to remember to lower the watts, this build was 2.2 ohm on the Zmax I had it at 10w on the iStick I had to drop it to 8w for the same taste, this is due to it using Mean rather that RMS for the output, what i would do if I was you, after you have built your KFL+ set the watts to say 7 or 8 then either go up or down to find the sweet spot. I normally start at 10 find it's burnt and then reduce :D

Just out of interest, is just the cross sectional area

and length of wire that determines resistance ?

i.e. if I took a 2" piece of 30g Kanthal and made a 6 wrap

coil around a 6mm mandrel then took the same wire and

wrapped it 12 times round a 2mm mandrel, both coils would

have the same resistance but would heat up differently ?

Taking a 2" (50mm) length of 30AWG - you would only be able to do the following:

1.4Ω - 2 wraps @ 6mm dia or 6 wraps @ 2mm dia (49.2mm actual wire length including 5mm legs)
and the heat flux and heat capacity would be the same: Heat flux @ 10W = 254 mW/mm², Heat capacity = 8.18 mJ K-1

EDIT although I would expect the 6mm one to heat up a lot quicker

Looking at the number of wraps and size of Mandrel, then you would have to have different lengths of wire:

6 wraps 30AWG 6mm dia = 126.4mm wire length and 3.6Ω with a Heat flux @ 10W = 99 mW/mm², Heat capacity = 21.03 mJ K-1
12 wraps 30AWG 2mm dia = 98.3mm wire length and 2.8Ω with a Heat flux @ 10W = 127 mW/mm², Heat capacity = 16.36 mJ K-1

I don't understand the heat figures but looking at them the 6mm dia one would get hotter again, but it looks like the 2mm dia one would heat up quicker.

Maybe someone can tell you what the figures really mean :)

Am I right in thinking the Kayfun is 22mm, and a nautilus mini 19.1? ...if so, that photo I posted a while ago had a Nautilus mini on one:
View attachment 385699

That doesn`t look bad at all trish, and yeah a kayfun is 22 mm so there would be a little hang over, but i could live with that :)

Well my kayfun mini arrived today bob, so i put a 1 ohm micro in it, went to test fire it on the mvp and got nothing at all, dead as a dodo  Then i had a thought, won`t it fire cos it`s on a regulated mod Damn it.

So i put it on a mech, and then could see i had a short, so fiddled about with the coil legs a bit and it fired up lovely. :) Back onto the mvp, and still firing, so far so good. Now for the filling, and remembering how you said they can be a bit temperamental had a go my way first. For future reference bob...Covered the airhole with my thumb, filled from the top with GVC, Topcap back on one turn only, flipped upside down, still with thumb over airhole, then fully tightened for a complete vacuum. A few deep dry pulls, then i went for it

Now this is my impression of nicole shirtlifter in them shampoo ad`s Yes, Yes, Yes Bloody fantastic, I get the full syria effect, tons of flavour, and nice big fluffy clouds to boot.

I gather you like it then
One of the disadvantages of a lot of regulated mods they are unable to show shorts, just refuses to fire, some higher end ones will show why it won't fire "Short" "Low Ohms" etc

That's because it's made from Titanium, stupid price and it's not even a DNA40, but 10-1 someone will buy it - don't think it will be Terry though

He's got loads of money our Terry, he can easily afford it

Hope you're feeling better now mate. I fell asleep myself last night, that's why I stopped replying

Must admit, it's a lot easier to do the flooring with an empty room. Don't think I've ever laid flooring in a room that wasn't empty, thinking about it.

Odd how some people can easily function well on little sleep!

I've been self employed for 25 years now, and until 8 years ago, my husband was often away during the week, and I was 'it' - 2 sons still living at home, so plenty of housework, washing, cooking, plus all the other weekly jobs ...I always worked until 1am then, and since my husband retired, the house has been far from the quiet place it was, so I've worked until 2-2.30am ever since then. He wakes me up at 10am.
Right from the beginning, I've had spells of working through to dawn to meet a deadline, and one or two nights of 8hrs sleep put me back to rights. I think if I'd been going to get some ill effects from working late hours, I'd have felt it by now.
I'm pretty sure that the combination of some stressful situations in the past two years, together with the lack of brain stimulation from cigarettes through this year is the problem.
Hopefully, the family will throw no more ailments and troubles my way, and I'll find something to get my brain back in gear! :)

Well that rules out my theory then Trisha. Dr Ian takes off his white coat

Nothing worse than lack of sleep though.

Thanks for the explanation Bob, I should have thought out the

wire lengths :)

I'm currently using pre mades but if I ever do get rba or rda

that will be very helpful

Vince, this is a great page for coil related stuff (coil building is the link near the top of the page) :

That's where I got all the info from  and I've just said the same.

Can't beat new toys :D

Is it a case of great minds think alike, or a case of fools never differ ??

Yep i certainly am bob, it`s working like a charm. :) I just went on to my epack to buy an i-stick..... Sold out

Cough, cough, IPV2, cough, cough

Yeah it was a bit of a pain mate, i think i just got dehydrated. I have noticed when you do jobs for yourself DIY etc, you never take breaks like you should do, so i reckon i just overdid it. :p

I know what you mean mate. When you start a job, you just want to get on and get it finished. With me, it's forgetting to eat. Until my stomach is noisier than the power tools, then I'll get some food

Thanks for the link guys

No problem mate. Must be a good one, we both recommend it

No you can`t ian, it`s great when you get something new to play with. :D You should really take something for that cough mate  I reckon i will get one though, and an i-stick too. Seems like i am going full circle with vaping now, started with regs, then mech`s, and gradually moving back to regs.

Hope Ron's ok, I've not seen any posts for a while now from him.

I was thinking exactly the same thing the other day too.

It should be fine - and it's cheap enough you can get a different make too!

Nicole who?! ...oh, never mind
 Don't like the shampoo anyway!

Well that rules out my theory then Trisha. Dr Ian takes off his white coat
No, not at all - I explain these things in the hope it gives someone, or myself, a light bulb moment! :) Happy to have any thoughts!

Nothing worse than lack of sleep though.
Think I get past the sleepy tiredness and progress to exhaustion without really feeling it as such. Had over 7 hours last night and it was hard to wake up ...perhaps get a bit longer again tonight :) No sense trying to go from 5 hours to 8 in one move. I'll try to get used to going to bed a bit earlier.
So easy to stay up working when it's nice & quiet! As you'll know, dawn and the birds starting to sing is a rather nice time of day.

Hope Ron's ok, I've not seen any posts for a while now from him.
Thought the very same a couple of days ago and forgot to mention it. Haven't seen him 'liking' stuff either.
