Looks a really nice place! :)

It is, a lot of the streets in the old town are cobbled, and there is a lot of Art Deco & Art Nouveau buildings along with the usual Baroc & Gothic, Religion is almost non-existent due to being under USSR rule for nearly 50 years, although there are some Lutheran and Orthodox churches, our guide was Agnostic like myself (although she was probably Agnostic Atheist and not Agnostic Christian). Their second language is now English amongst working people, we had no problems in shops and cafes & bars although a lot of the elder population can only speak Latvian & maybe Russian. It is still a very poor country, with the average wage only €700/m (£610)

Sounds rather nice - We like places like that with things to see ...old areas etc. For us that's far better than sea/sand type holidays. We enjoyed places like Madrid, Valetta, Paris, Lisbon and even Palma.

We find it easier to sit in the sun at a café in Paris or a marina somewhere and watch people and life go by ....get fidgety just laying around near the sea.

Still, I hope you have a great time, wonderful weather, easy journey and no delays either way! :)

Had a bit of a hectic time the last two days so not had chance to stop by - but hectic in a good way :D

Thanks for the marshmallow link Terry and thanks to Ron for aiding in the team effort

Daz, that looks bloody brill mate  I've got the FT DNA30 chip in my wishlist, I'll wait for a few reviews first to see what people think. Plus I've found the site "Digikey" that does the Hammond enclosures etc so that's another one bookmarked for future use.

Bob, lovely pics mate. Looks like a place full of charm, you've done some excellent photos there :D

Trisha, if you buy the nic juice and add 20% flavouring you will reduce the overall nic content. Not by much on a 6mg base, but if it was a 24mg base it would make a big difference - hope that makes sense. Some of the flavourings I mix with do require up to 25% flavouring, but the majority are between 5 and 10%. When I get a new flavouring I taste a drop on my finger :

If it tastes very mild - use 20% or more
If it tastes just right - use up to 12%
If it tastes pretty strong, but doesn't linger on the tongue - use up to 8%
If it's very strong and lingers on the tongue - use up to 5%
If you immediately have to drink from the nearest water source, cos your mouth is on fire - use a max of 2%

That's how I judge new flavourings :D

-------------------------

Terry, hope you have a great time mate. If you can get me some orders for my juice range on holiday, I'll give you 10% commission  Seriously though, enjoy it, hope the weathers great mate.

Thanks Ian. Flemming at LT did mention the slight reduction in nicotine, but I don't think that'll bother me too much - if it did, I could get some 0.8.
Suppose it depends on the flavouring - some only need a very small percentage according to the guide on CV's site. Some of the concentrates do need more. I'll just have to see how it goes. I'll only likely try one at a time.

One of my first needs is to try the 4 strawberry brands I got to see if any are better or worse than the other when it comes to how it affects me. Could be interesting if I could pinpoint one, and perhaps that way I'll learn what it is that does cause me problems. If I find one that works OK for me, it'll be nice too!
I do have some other flavourings/concentrates though, and they may be interesting to try! Plus one is a menthol that could 'save' some fairly uninteresting ones I have.

Thanks for the tip on tasting it! That makes a lot of sense.

(I don't get the more noticeable reduction on a 24mg base ..I'm missing something. Not important for me though :))

I'm not a beach bum myself, prefer the city type life and especially old city areas, which is usually where the night life is as well, I don't mind days out to the sea and sand but normally just walk along the prom and enjoying the views.

Well seeing as you probably won't see this until you get back, hope you enjoyed your holiday.

That's me to a Tee although I also like a good look around the shops as well, if I'm on my own I always take all my oldest clothes with me, wear them and dump them to make room in the suitcase for things I buy whilst on holiday.

I do if your base is 6mg and you put 25% flavouring in it will weaken it to 4.5mg so only a drop of 1.5mg
but if your base is 24mg and you put 25% flavouring in it will weaken it to 18mg so a drop of 6.mg

Madrid was terrific at night ...brilliant during the day too, even though 40+C :)

One of the most memorable was in Paris when the bar chap at our hotel offered to give us a tour of Paris late at night - he finished around 2.30am and showed us some beautiful sights through the city and along the Seine, then took us to a café/bar on the Champs Elysee where it appeared all the late workers gathered for 'breakfast' before going home to sleep. Hot chocolate and Croissants!
His girlfriend and two of their friends joined him who worked in an hotel (one was a chef). Magic, and something we probably wouldn't have experienced otherwise.
They were all lovely people, and the bar chap was no ordinary one either - he took charge of the hotel bar every summer during his college break and he spoke 7 languages including Japanese! He was studying banking/finance. We went back the next year and there he was again. Took us out to dinner the night before we left.

Another good thing about Madrid - the sales in August! There were some beautiful shoes and clothes for rather small prices! Well worth space in a suitcase! A brilliant street market on Sunday too.

We went to Majorca once and were in Alcudia - the usual beaches/bars etc., but also a nice marina to sit and have breakfast, lunch etc., and also a great catamaran service twice per day to the top part of the island where Branson's hotel was/is. It was a really refreshing journey sat on the top deck and going up around the coast. A short stop up there with time to paddle around in the clear water and get a drink and then back again. Great way to spend a couple of hours.
Nice too when we stayed in the south of the island: a modest sized but very nice British built hotel in a bay, and sat on our balcony at night we could hear the waves lapping, and one night watched the QE2 sail into port.

I only sort of went to Madrid once, was actually going to Lisbon but missed the train from Paris, so thought I would go via Madrid, arrived and found there was no space on the overnighter from Madrid, so booked on the next overnighter and went to the Hotel bureau only to find everywhere was fully booked, Madrid at home to Barca and a Bullfight on, ended up catching a local train to Alcazar de San Juan (pin in the map), where I found a hotel for the night, turned out to be the home town of Cervantes of "Don Quixote" fame, so turned out alright in the end.

were all on a learning curve trish and the more we learn the more we like it and the more we like it the less chance we have of returning to the fags so its all good stuff :p
That's very true! :)

So, did you eventually get to Lisbon?
Madrid was really nice - good mix of culture, old buildings, shops, good restaurants, art galleries etc. Bit hot though in early August - was still 29C at 11pm! Plus, no-one spoke English ...once I realised it was similar to French in some ways, I got by.
Husband was working, so during the day I was pretty much on my own for 4 days and then the company gave us an extra two days because they'd called him in from our own holidays! (We were only pottering about at home.) :)

We once had a holiday in the 60's, the year before we were married, with two friends where we set off for Cornwall, stayed in a number of places from Dorset to Cornwall to Devon and then up to London and nothing booked or planned ...just stayed where we ended up each day - totally brilliant!

Isn't that just typical, 2 days out of the 60 day Flavour Vapour warranty on my Innokin vv and it's started playing up!

About half the time I fire it up the button flashes red, yellow green and I get 888 shown on the display followed by 1=1.

I'm presuming that I'm just unlucky and that they usually last longer than a couple of months. I do really like it for carrying around but I'm hesitant to buy another if it's likely to die that quickly again.

Carrying the MVP2 as a backup to work is seriously messing with the lines of my suit :)

Would I be better off buying a couple of cheap EVODs or something similar?

You got it in one Ron, the higher the nic content the greater the reduction with flavouring, you're learning well my young student

The taste test is a great way of accessing flavours Trisha, their all food grade flavours so they won't poison you ... much

-------------------------
Today's update :

My FT order for :
https://www.fasttech.com/p/1713500
and
https://www.fasttech.com/p/1594300

have now shipped.

------------------------------------

I saw that the Black Fogger V4 is back in stock now at FT, been waiting a while for it to come back in stock so I've order it and some tips :
https://www.fasttech.com/p/1680901
https://www.fasttech.com/p/1722405
https://www.fasttech.com/p/1714008
https://www.fasttech.com/p/1695000

------------------------------------

Ordered a dremmel style multi tool with grinding discs etc. There's some attys I want to open the airholes more on (they need a bit more finesse than a full size drill can give), plus I want to experiment with brushing some mod parts, as well as opening up the wicking channels on a couple of my Kayfuns. Also want to have a try at engraving some plain tubes I've got. So the multi tool will get some use :D

---------------------------------

Finally, I've heard a lot of talk about rayon as a wicking material. It's supposed to be even better than cotton for wicking ability, easier to work with and gives even better flavour when set up right. So I've ordered some, but the sort I needed is coming from the USA, so it will be a while before it gets here. I'll do a side by side comparison with cotton when it gets here.

-----------------------------------------------

So I've had a busy day researching today

Can't help with the error codes Carl. But have you checked all the obvious things first :

Batteries are making proper contact.
Different attys, to see if it's a connection problem on the atty connection.
Try cleaning the battery contacts in the unit.
Sometimes the pin inside the 510 atty connection can get compressed, so it doesn't make full contact with your atty.

I'd try ruling out the obvious problems first. If it's an intermittent problem, sometimes their easy to fix.

What does the manual say about the error codes mate ??

Thanks for the advice Ian but I've already checked all of that. I've learnt a lot from this forum :)

Many various attys all show the same problem, no mention of error codes in the manual.

I've googled the problem and what has come up seems to imply that it's a terminal error, most of the posts I see say that if you get this then it's game over and you can't even charge it any more. That's not my experience yet but obviously I'm worried it will be.

I may take it back to the shop anyway and ask their advice.

I still have the MVP2 and the nemmy but the vv is much easier to carry :)

That's a shame mate if it's terminal. I would have expected an Innokin product to last a lot longer than 60 days though. If you don't get any joy at the shop, maybe contact Innokin directly - lay it on a bit thick - how much you love the device and how disappointed you are that it's stopped working so soon - you never know, they might offer to fix or replace it for you ;)

Evods are great for portability, especially with a cotton wick in them. I'd stick with the back up MVP though, even if it does ruin the suit line

Thanks again Ian

I'll try the shop and maybe drop Innokin a line if I get no joy. I do like the vv very much after all.

Then again I'm off to Cyprus at the end of the month to see my parents and there's an Innokin reseller in Paphos where the prices look cheaper than I can get off eBay. Still not as good as Fasttech but if I ordered now from Fasttech, I'd be doubtful about it arriving in time.

Not a problem mate, I'll keep my fingers crossed you get something sorted.

To be honest FT have speeded up a hell of a lot with postage recently. My last order took about 10 days once posted and I think Terry had one even quicker. But it's probably not worth the risk if you're away at the end of the month.
