Just wondering if anyone else is concerned about vaping with Barretts? I'm just about due for the yearly scope down the throat and am nervous to see if vaping has made things better or worse.:?:

Are you sure what you have isn't GERD? I have that. Or had, rather. If I remember correctly, Barretts is a more advanced condition where the esophageal cells start turning into stomach cells, and could become cancerous.

I started taking probiotics on a daily basis, and the GERD went away. No more scoping for me, although I did like the drugs they gave me during the procedure. :headbang:

i was recently diagnosed with barretts after the throat scope procedure. After 2 years of vaping and not smoking I had developed a chronic cough that had persisted for several months. most of the info i have seen focuses on the diet, smaller meals, acid control drugs and avoiding lying down within 3 hours after eating. because my test showed pre-cancerous cells he switched me to prilosec because it helps with cancer prevention whereas ranitidine only helps with acid control. incidentally, I get prilosec with just a $4 copay on my obamacare plan so I save a lot over the cost of otc prilosec.

The info also cautions against smoking and nicotine but i wonder if they are associating the nicotine only with smoking. I have significantly reduced the nic levels of my liquids and plan to reduce it more but I am curious whether anyone has any information specific to vaping. Of course i am sure that vaping would be less problematic than smoking but I am apprehensive about telling my doctor I am vaping.

The cough has already become less bothersome after a month of gerd control and reduced nic in my vape. i did both at the same time so i do not know if the improvment results just from the gerd control or also from the nic reduction.

While I agree vaping is less problematic than smoking, (WAY LESS), you still may want to get your nic as low as you can. I am down to about 2 mg. nic and plan to get off of it completely in the near future. Then, hopefully, no more vaping. I do enjoy vaping, but want to give my lungs the freedom of oxygen only.

yes, i immediately reduce mixing from 14-18mg down to 6-12mg with more ease than I expected.
