if we're talking about the BDL IMR 10440s.... I'd wait to see what the specs are like on the AW ones when they come out...there are limits to the battery based on size after all..
first the QC on the BDL batteries isn't known to be the best...
I personally pretty much consider the BDL ones to be a sham that were made to be a quick jump on the IMR bandwagon... (I don't like the BDL 14500 IMR either)...
anyway the reason I say that is:
if you look at the specs on the BDL IMR 10440
they're 350mAh with a 3C discharge rate...
what's that mean?....
that their max drain rate is only capable of 1.05A ....(yes it's about double what it would be from a Li-Ion 10440 so yeah it's "high drain" just not high enough)
* if you calculate the max drain of the *fire 10440 Li-Ions using their on label specs (the 600mAh) ... then their max drain is 0.9A
if you work from the 350mAh their reported to truely be delivering it's 0.53A
the amp draw on a 1.5Ω LR atty at 3.7V is 2.47A...
so you're still going to get voltage sag and an overstressed battery out of the deal...
*for the record in the 14500 size the BDL max drain is at 3A where the AW is at 5A.....so the BDL is barely sufficient to cover the amp draw of that LR again...
hey joelongwood, if it means anything ive been using my s6 with only the imr 14500, they work excellent, compared to the 14500 grey protected hands down the imr
this is a great example of what we're talking about...
consider that LR atty at a 2.47A draw...
the 900mAh grey trustfires have a max drain rate of 1.3A...
even the 750mAh AW have a max drain rate of 1.5A....
so you get "voltage sag"... they don't deliver a "true" 3.7V to that LR atty...
but the AW IMR are capable of delivering up to 5A...more than that LR atty needs.. so no voltage sag..
it delivers that true 3.7V to the atty...so better hits, warmer, more vapor...
as such you may tend to hold the button for a shorter period of time (because of a more satisfying hit) so though they're lower mAh they'll appear to lst the same or longer than the 900mAh batteries....
so the IMR 10440s?... with that LR atty....imagine the performance of the 900mAh grey TF on your s6 only slightly weaker and lasting way less...
