word on the street is it was held back until the changes on limiting download data took affect so consumers have to pay more for unlimited download at such highspeed. We have a grandfathered account so If I get a droid charge I get grandfathered in with unlimited downloads at 4g speed. anyone have thoughts on this???

I'm always behind on something, just got 3g incredilbe 2. It's really just right for me. My daughter friend is very tech savvy and he helped me with some apps and such, he doesn't mind. As he says, It's not often I see people so behind, lol! But of course I am curious now that I upgraded, what else it out there.

When I was still working it was essential I had these kinds of communications, but since I retired I just couldn't see any sense in the cost any more and now we just use those WalMart phones with a prepaid service.

One time we got stuck out in the desert and tried calling for help with my Blackberry. No luck. But we finally got through to a friend on my wifes WalMart phone!!!

And I mean we were out in the middle of nowhere!

Out of curiosity, why would you want to stream movies from netflix on your phone?

I used to watch "television" on my Blackberry and it was great when wifey was in a store shopping for hours ... it gave me something to do. I refuse to shop with her. If there are two thousand cans of Tomato Soup on the shelves, she's going to look at every can to see if one can is marked a penny lower than the others.

streaming media is more of a good guideline. Future live face to face conversations as opposed to a voice call or texting is what I am interested in and a phone that can livestream a movie flawlessly has the kinds of upload/download sppeds I am looking for. I do have netflix and hey, Pam shops like TT's wife :)

David - I do like live face to face conversations. Since my job is virtual, this is so important. Fortunately, the college realizes this and we have virtual 'live' meetings once a month.

Now, I understand why you would want to watch a movie when shopping since Pam shops like TT's wife. :) Hubby does all our grocery shopping though. He calls me when he gets in the store and I tell him what to buy. Very simple and efficient. :)

I had Blackberrys for years before switching to Droids, and haven't looked back. I have a Droid X and got an Incredible for the wife. I browse the droid forums a couple times a month to keep up on the latest, but refuse to upgrade till VZW releases 4G in my area. They've been saying all year that it's due in 2011, and it hasn't happened yet. Till then I'll stick with my DX.

As for streaming media, Netflix has made it much simpler than it used to be. I used to use Orb to stream content from my computer, which was convenient, but laggy. Netflix is awesome, I just hope they use the higher fees they started charging recently to expand their streaming library. Hulu Plus is another one not as many people know about. I have a subscription with them to be able to stream Hulu movies to my Roku at home, which also entitles me to stream to my phone via their app. Btw I probably would pay the subscription for either Netflix or Hulu to just use them on my phone; but I get them mainly for watching tv...the phone apps are just an added bonus.

I have loved my Droid (original Droid) since launch...but there are definitely some things I hate. The damn thing tends to freeze and chug when multitasking. Also the amount of widgets can reduce speed when returning to home screen (Why the hell are there even 5 home screens) LOL! The camera app is so slow. Forget trying to capture something if it is a spur of the moment type thing. The music app sucks too.

I am sure that some of these issues would be resolved by upgrading to a dual core Droid such as the X2 or the Bionic...but I remain skeptical. If Apple gives the iPhone 5 a dual core processor, 4G, and a FREE turn by turn navigation system (even Google Nav, come on!) I am jumping ship.

I watch tv I've downloaded on my iPhone when I'm at the gym or when I'm flying. It's also great when I'm traveling for work and stuck in a hotel where I'm too tight to pay for in room movies (work covers food and accommodation, but not extras).

I guess when your flying with that broom its good to have a phone where you can watch movies!

On airplanes they show them free.
