Found a source for pure nicotine and was wondering if anyone had some chemistry background to see if this would be a viable route to take for making our own juice........

Here's the link: Search Results

I seriously have ZERO knowledge this, but figured I'd throw it out here for discussion....

I'll be very honest with you. By your own admission you have no knowledge of chemistry. That would indicate to me that you also have no experience dealing with highly toxic materials.

While nicotine is relatively safe in the concentrations we use in our juices it IS NOT safe in concentrated form. I've worked with arsenic, cyanide, and other quite nasty poisons in the past, and I'd rather buy my juice than work with pure nicotine given the choice.

Pure nicotine is, and I can't stress this enough, very dangerous and can kill you very quickly. It can be absorbed through your skin, the vapors can be inhaled, and a small amount, literally drops is all it takes. By the time you know you've overdosed, it's way too late to do anything about it.

You must work with protective clothing in a controlled environment and a respirator at minimum. Don't even think about working with pure nicotine on your kitchen table or counter unless you desire to seriously risk the health and lives of your family.

Like I said, I've worked professionally with some pretty bad stuff in my life and even I buy my juice instead of working with pure nicotine. The only way I'd consider working with pure nicotine would be if I had a proper lab environment and safety clothes to work in like I once had when I worked with this kind of toxic stuff for a living. It's not going to happen in my home around my family!

Please don't even think about it if you don't actually know what your doing and have professional experience and protective clothing!

Like the above posters mentioned it seems very very dangerous. I would like to play around with nicotine extraction from tobacco though as the levels do not seem nearly as dangerous, especially using and ether rinse. I have thought of doing an isopropyl extraction similar to those used to create medicinal extracts for our other favorite herb.

I would NOT use isopropyl to extract under any circumstances. It is POISON and it tends to leave RESIDUE. (you can test for residue by putting 10 drops on a clean mirror and let it evaporate)
