Memories! I remember going out with my dad hunting sturgeons late into the evening. We weren't allowed to make much noise in case the bells rang on top of the rods.
Well this august I plan on taking a weekend off and take the kids up to Port Perry and fish off the dock at Lake Scugog, take in some antique markets up there as well.
I watched guys Sturgeon fishing on the Arrow lake. They used a rotted chicken hooked to a big hook, connected to a 45 gallon barrel painted orange, connected to a winch on shore LOL... yup that was sport fishing. barrel is down crank it in...
me and the lads are setting up an rc track to race our cars. been a long time since we did it. raining tonight for a bit and a little tomorrow so monday is the day.

They are sure freakin ugly fish. I remember when the deas island tunnel went in here. there was a pic in the paper of this underwater diver. he was just looking behind him the when pic was snapped and a 20+ foot sturgeon was just flaoting behind him watching. I would think the water temp changed at that moment
I did a bit of fishing as a kid, but just never got into it - seemed too easy. Of course, anything over 2 lbs was considered 'big'. Drop hook, reel it in - meh. I got a chance to go after big fish earlier this year in Cancun, though - THAT was fun! Hauling in 400ft of line to land a 50lb fish was a struggle. I want to get back and try again....
So, for you folks going after sturgeon - good luck!
My Son is playing in a golf Tourny this weekend and I am caddying for him. Nothing like raking bunkers and picking up the sod from his divots. Damn, it sounds like I am doing yard work all weekend.
No days off for me, I work at a regular job by day and at home online by night and weekends I'm an authority on online poker and work as a consultant and writer and have much more to do than I have time for
