Happy New Year ECF!

I have a couple of AnyVape Davide BDC tanks that use the Aspire BDC coils. When they work, they are great, however it seems like I am going through a coil every 3-4 tank fills (about 2-3 days). My Protank 2 coils last for 2 or more weeks, so I am rather surprised by this. I expected them to go through juice faster than the PT2, but not coils!

Is anyone else having the same experience with these coils? Is this normal for the AnyVape/Aspire series products? Are there any tricks to extend the life of these coils?

I was pretty sure I would get at least 2 weeks out of each coil, based on what has been written about them. Are my expectations too high?

Thanks for any info/advice!

What are they doing when they aren't performing well? Are you vaping thick, sweet juice? From my experience, dual coils gunk up quicker and need to be dry burned more often.

after all the rave reviews i got one for a newbie and gave him a battery ect.. i thought these would be the go, but naa they are crap- unimpressed... i think these reviewers say everything is good so they get more stuff from suppliers and more hits and links to sites ect thus getting $$$.. i thought the taste was totally muted and the draw tight azz... so i re-coiled a old protank 2, gave that to the bro and gave him a lesson on my old rsst.. so hopefully he can now just bypass all the crappy clearos out the and get onto a genesis!!! just my 2cents worth!!!

Well, i cant speak for anyone else, but I bought 2 aspire bdc glassos beginning of december, and only just changed out the coils a week ago, only thing i did to 'em was wash 'em in hot water once a week. Im using the 1.8 ohm coils.

I have an update to that post, all I can say is that while the original coils were quite good, in the 8 days since i originally posted that I have now gone thru 6 of the 10 replacement coils i bought. QC on them seems to be pretty slack, which sucks seeing as when they do work they are great, they really bring out the flavor on most of my niquids. However, at 10 bucks a pack, I cant afford to waste money on coils with such a high doa/whatever it is that makes em taste and work like crap rate. I hope they fix the issues because i am rather fond of them.

Thanks everyone that responded. It would appear that there is a HUGE quality control problem with these coils/heads. I went through my box of 1.8ohm coils at a rate of approximately 2 days per coil on average, and I am now into a box of 2.2ohm coils and they seem to go about 4 days so far. I guess we will see what happens by the end of this box.

The quality control issues are the only thing that has me on the fence from buying anymore Aspire products. I really want to try the Nautilus, but not if there are going to be the same problems with the coils. Pricing is already high on the BDC coils and it looks like the Nautilus replacements are going to be substantially higher, making it really expensive if I only get 2 - 4 days per coil!

Anyway, thanks again for all the thoughts on this so far!

I was one of the firsts in the batch of people to call out the Aspire on a weird chemically taste that funked up my juices - on all five heads.

As time has went on, it seems hundreds of people are having issues with these heads.

Phil has shown that there are quite a few versions of the heads running around - even in the two-hole category - and RIP has shown that these heads tend to have coils that are pretty much, well, messed up.

However, RIP just gave an outstanding review to the Nautilus heads.

Yet, Phil gave the same glowing review to the original Aspire heads.

To me, I've learned my lesson that 3 months after an initial review is the best time to gauge a product - reviewers are often sent products that are hot and right off the press, and even models/heads that may be different than the final form (and the final form is usually made to save the most money).

After these three months, anyone who called me nutty as a fruitcake about the Aspire now looks like a complete fool. If you have problems with the Aspire, don't be afraid to speak up and say, as this spreads the word and hopefully, it can get Aspire to finally hear the feedback.

For me, the tips I learned with the Aspire (from vendors and folks) is that before you load the Aspire, drip a few drops down into the head (like you would a dripper) and make sure all the coils are nice and wet. As well, Phil has said that air-flow controllers can be a must for the original Aspire - I personally did not find all of this to be true in any positive way, but it may work for others.

Cleaning your heads and tank first in your own methods may always help as well - I just couldn't bring myself to possibly ruin my heads by cleaning, as cleaning always seems to ruin whatever device I'm trying to better.

The final verdict for me was that the Aspire produced more vapor than any product on the market, but did so at a cost of the juice constantly tasting dry and wicky - it was always a very obvious layer to the juice. No juices tasted right on it because of it.

I also found that going above 4.1V's sort of caused a burnt taste, I think that's generally as far as these heads should be pushed.

I do want to try out the Nautilus myself, but Aspire has sort of burned me with what I spent on the original, and if nothing else, I know to give it at least a month this time. When I bought it, there were already a few very bad reviews, and I should have just listened.

You use the word HUGE qc whatever... and though I heard the same before... I have never once witnessed it.
I have at least 50 Aspire BDC coils on hand right now ... and NOT a single one has failed... not one.
As a matter of fact... if you do a little checking you will see where both
the VapinGreek and the Englishman Todd have videos out sharing information
about a converter for about $6.00 that all the Heads (coil) now of the
Aspire BDC can be used in the Pro Tank ... And there is a reason for them now in the Davide Glassomizer
--------
And there is a reason for this... and its not because the coil in the Aspire BDC is failing...
though some may not know how to install it properly... due to the contact pin being
so far receded... and having to be pulled out to work properly with some mods or batteries.

Ive been very happy with the Aspire heads in my Davides. I think the head design is superior to the Kanger heads. I havent tried any other brand of Kangerish heads, maybe those are better? I will keep using the Aspure heads until I find something better. I always had wicking issues with my Protanks. which I find funny considering they use the same Kanger heads that my Evod uses and Ive never had wicking problems with those. I have however had gurgling issues with all Kanger products.

Bottom line is Ive had good luck with the Aspires. I cant recommend them enough. ive replaced my Protanks with the Davides. i am getting ready to fill up the PT with another juice, after sitting empty for near a month. Im praying I have better luck this time around.

I love the aspires, I've been using them since october 2013, sure I've had a couple of issues but no more than I've ever had with kanger heads and the aspire works better than the kanger heads.....hands down! What I do is when a head is 'done' I stick it in a box until I have 4 or 5 heads, dry burn them all and boil them in a saucepan of water for about 20minutes, blow them out and leave to dry overnight.....BOSH! like new, since I discovered this technique I have rotated 6 heads with no issues. 70/30 mix aniseed or arctic mint on an mvp usually at 6.5-7w. I would expect to get 2 weeks out of each head before 'cleaning'. I'm not sure how many times I can use this technique before the head will become completely dead but for the price of each head, if i can get 6weeks I'll be a very happy man.

Side note, I tried re-building these with cotton, very tricky but do-able......not really worth the hassle for the cost of the new heads IMO.

Thanks for the reply, that is some good information. As a side note, how do you dry burn these? I dry burn my kanger coils, but that is easy since I can pull the tops off and see the coils. This makes dry burning a breeze as I can see when it is done. When I tried that with one of these, the wicking came out and I was pretty well screwed. The next attempt was done without taking them apart, but something in the coil "popped" and it was shot as well.

Since then, I removed my extension tube and plastic adapter, and have just been using Kanger heads in it. The results are great, and rebuilding with cotton is pretty easy, but it isn't the same as using the aspires. I was only getting 3-4 days per coil, but even then, if I can figure out how to clean and reuse them, I could potentially get up to 2 -3 weeks of life from each. It's still shorter than my Kanger lifespan (before rebuilding), but the vape is much different and that makes it worth it.

Thanks again, I really appreciate it!

I first tried the Aspires offered by Smokeless Image. Excellent flavor and vapor. I tried the ET 3ml and Mini Nova 2ml. I find that the ET does not like to go below 1/3 full which kinda defeats the purpose of having a bigger tank. They gurgle hard at that level. Clears up once oyu remove and clean the base and refill. When full it is outstanding though. I got around a month out of the heads and just attempted a cleaning. Haven't tried the cleaned ones yet to see how they work. Just picked up a Aspire Mini Nova for my MVP 2 and it works just as good as the SI version. Also bit the bullet and got a Vivi Nova but haven't tried it yet as I am currently trying out the Vision Nova top feeders. All inn all they are the best BDC I have tried.
