I have had no issues with mine, my suggestion would be to contact Apollo at support@apolloecigs.com and if you have a malfunctioning unit they can assist in the exchange process.
I have experienced the same problems. I took pictures and will post them. This could be a issue and safety hazard. One batt did not turn off and melted the plastic on the outside of the carto. Worst part was it was in my fathers T-shirt pocket and felt something burning his chest.
I've had the same no-shutoff problem, coupled with an indicator light failure, plus a failure to fire. 2 of 3 Apollo batteries I've encountered have failed in less than a week, third is less than a week old but still working. I got my second Apollo replacement battery in the mail yesterday (both of the two I initially purchased failed for varying reasons). This one appears to be different from both the originals and the one replacement I already received - it's about 5 mm taller and has a white fire button instead of a blue one. I haven't burned it out yet, but I'm assuming it's one of the ones that goes from white when charged to blue in the middle when dying to all blue when almost dead. Several hours of use and it's still going strong, which is great.
Much more impressed with this one. My wife's replacement battery has already had issues - the metal connection that includes the fire button has broken loose from the main battery and was sitting at a slant - I was able to bend it back into place so the clearo aligns with the tube, but not sure if it's still safe to use - please advise if we should discontinue use.
Also, if you've recently switched suppliers for your batteries, kudos. The fourth one I received seems to be of much higher quality than the first three...that is, I'm a day and a half in and it hasn't malfunctioned. Please pass along my continued thanks to customer service for great response, and that if they have switched up their product they've got something a lot better now than what they had before.

I meant to post this a while back but here is what happened to this batt that would not shut off.
I got my Extreme starter kit in December 2012, and didn't have any shut off issues.
I did have one of the 2 in the kit start to lose charge a lot faster than the other and via live chat, Apollo sent a replacement right away.
I've moved up to an eGo variable voltage and love it, but still use the Extremes when I go out for the evening.
One thing to note though it's probably not related to this is do not use your cell phone charger to charge any of your batteries. I had a friend who did that and it killed his batteries in a couple of days, he told met the wall chargers provided by the vendor is lower voltage than a cell phone charger and can mess up battery life.

Exactly..you should only use the charger supplied with the specific hardware you are using...using other chargers etc can void your warranty and ruin your hardware.
