Are all KR8 batteries created equally?

Hello,

I am wondering if all KR8 batteries are going to be the same regardless of who you buy them from. I know they make the long with a bigger battery and a short one so of course they won't be the same but are there certain suppliers who sell better quality ones. Quality meaning longer lasting between charges and having to buy new. Thank you in advance.

Apparently there are different kr8 models. I have a kr8-1 and kr8-2. My kr8-2 performs much better but it could just be the cartomizers that I have. Waiting for the Greencig carts to come in for the kr8-1 to test this theory.

I also ordered a kr8-1 and kr8-2 from lecig. Really interested to see the difference between their two models as the kr8-1 model isnt kanger made. Btw, LeCig customer service was incredible and so far the best vendor i have dealt with.

Here is another thread with pictures of different kr8 models

Pianoguy did hit that important part right on the head..cutoff time on V4L's newer (manual batteries at least) are a 13 sec cutoff whereas just about everywhere else is a 5 sec which for me was the huge selling point (I tend to lean on my batteries a bit longer to help up the vapor production through a hotter atty) expecially in the winter cold.. gotta give the atty time to build up enough heat to produce the vapor and with a colder outside temp means a colder PV so more time to heat up and I worried that 5 sec wasn't enough time to do that and get a decent amount of vapor...to me that was the selling point.
Other than that all regular KR8 batteries are rated at the same mAh so same battery life between charges (think they're 280 mAh)..shorties have lower mAh so last less between charges..and Xls have a higher mAh rating so obviously last longer between charges... but how long they last is completely dependant on individual vaping style and amount so actual time will vary by user..

With the way I vape the cutoff time doesn't really impact me. I know it matters for some and if it does for you I believe the new Vapor4Life ones have the longest cutoff time.

I don't find that the Kr8 batteries from the different suppliers are much different from each other as long as they are the same style. Vapor4Life has the widest selection of batteries that I have found. They have shorties, regular (280 mah), and XL models (380 mah). The regular and XLs come in automatic and manual. Good Prophets has all of those except for the shorties.

If you want them in colors Vapor4Life has bunches of them. Everybody else seems to carry black and a couple have some white ones.

I haven't had any die on me yet, but I have killed a couple! (They don't like being dropped over and over and they aren't fond of being drenched in any kind of liquid!)

:p

I forgot to mention that puresmoker carries them too they call their KR8 the ACE..I think a starter kit from them is $30 for 2 batteries and an USB charger and wall adapter (just black or silver, single batteries are like $12 for the regular 280 mAh or $14 for the 380 mah Xls..
I almost went with these but they were the 5 second cut off (10 sec on the Xls)...
But puresmoker also has a really good customer service reputation too..thought I'd mention it since it sounds like you're trying to avoid a specific company...
That being said length of time batteries will last will be subjective to vaping style and amount, temperature, and auto versus manual..so best that can be done is give you battery mAh ratings..all 280 mAh KR8 batteries should last the same amount of time for you independent of supplier...I know not what you really want to hear but it's the truth..

Short answer no.....

Kanger makes the KR808D-1 batterys, the V4L ones are also made by Kanger but they are made slightly different, the thread has a solid ring on the inside and 4 holes around it instead of 2, it's like sucking at air compared to my proper Kanger ones, I don't like them at all. The quality is obviously cheaper too because i've had several go dodgy and not 1 proper Kanger one give me any problems.

@ skydragon, try a battery from vaporkings.com, you'll notice the difference.

I haven't had an issue with any of my V4L batteries or any of the other products. It's been top quality and top service all the way and I highly recommend them no mater what snarky signature you decide to have.

I think most manufacturers claim that batteries should last for about 200 to 300 charges but most people and suppliers believe it is closer to 100 to 200. Perhaps the manufacturers' numbers are counting until the battery won't hold a charge at all and the other is until a significant loss of performance is noticed. I'm not speaking specifically of Kr8 batteries but in general regarding PV batteries.

I expect them to last about three or four months on average but I wouldn't be upset if one lasted two months every once in a while. But that is accounting for my own personal vaping style!

:)

Well that's very fortunate for you, i also have a whole pile of duff cartomizers from them that don't vape worth a crap aswell. If you like what you're getting from them, then there's nothing wrong with that at all. I prefer to have stuff that works how it should for me, rather than have stuff that doesn't and having to get replacements.

All personal opinion at the end of the day, if you like what you're getting from them, then more power to you.

Thank you all for answering. The most mentioned supplier is the one I seem to be having some problems with. Actually I haven't tried anyone else so I don't have a comparision . I don't know except they are hot lasting anywhere close to what they say they should lasting.

Hello there dragonlady ;)

I'm guessing you mean aren't lasting between charges and not the lifespan. That being the case it definitely is going to depend on your vaping style. I know that I don't get nearly the length of time out of any batteries that I see some saying they get. I've seen people state that they get 6-8 hours or more but in my personal experience I have never gotten more than 3 hours (decreased performance in even less) out of any standard battery. Even the 900 mah battery in my 905 only lasts me around 6 hours.

If you're looking to try different batteries of the same size from different vendors I'm not sure about single battery prices anywhere off the top of my head. Lots of people carry those and the kits. If you're looking to get a new kit I could recommend vendors that I have used and like, for instance LitecigUSA.com and GoodProphets.com, but if you are looking to get a new kit for the cheapest price then the cheapest one I have seen is Puresmoker.com but that is because it comes without cartomizers included (last I checked anyhow) but will work with cartomizers you already have.

Hope that helps. cya in the other thread ;)

Hey Thy,
Yeah, I mean between charges. They just seem to run out of oommph ( I don't know how to spell that) very quickly so that I get very little vapor. They are great right off the charger, but don't last long at all and I don't use them that much because of that. Thanks for the information.

I don't have a problem with V4L as they have been very good to me with their customer service. I'm just not sure what is going on with the batteries.

My xlongs NEVER last me more than 4-5 hours. I am NOT complaining because I don't think that's bad, but I have several friends using them, and they get about the same as me. And I know what you mean about the oomph. lol

    Hi Katmar,
I wouldn't mind if it only lasted 4-5 hours if it had some oomph :D behind it for that amount of time. I would have to say I get maybe two cigs worth of good vapor and that's it. Then it is a struggle. Same with some of my shorter ones although I know they won't last as long as the longer batts. I don't know, maybe in reality it is the charger that is the real culprit.
