Being a menthol smoker forever, and making my first foray into vaping with ejuice, yesterday I picked up a small bottle of menthol at my neighborhood brick and mortar store. The brand is called Hi Tech. It was a little disappointing as it tasted nothing like the menthol I am so used to from analogs nor even the pre-filled menthol cartridges I have tried before. It tasted and felt like I was inhaling pure Vick's Vapo Rub. Are all menthols like this? I do have orders of menthol ejuice from Halo and Mt Baker Vapor on the way. I'm wondering if I made a mistake in wanting to stick with the tried and true and whether I should consider branching out into different flavors?

Do the companies making pre-filled carts use a mix of tobacco and menthol in making their menthol carts?

I dont think they are. I havent tried alot of menthols, but the few I have tried are a bit strong. I tend to mix them with another flavor like vanilla or a chocolate to make a nice smooth vape. A mint (has a great menthol flavor) that I like is Chillaxin from Adam Bomb. My first vape and by far a favorite forever. I was a menthol smoker as well. Hope this helps. :)

2 pad menthol smoker for over 40 years.... And think I probably tried every menthol juice out there, even diy juices. In a word, they all suck.. Some were close, but I actually found myself craving a menthol cig after vaping because of the difference.

Due to this, was never able to quit smoking, and wound up giving up on vaping for about a year. During the time when I was vaping, still smoked ..... Not good.

What finally got me off cigs was giving up trying to find a good menthol juice as an adv. I now vape mostly fruity juices, and rotate flavors frequently. Every now & then put a few menthol drops into a peach, banana, melon, or berry brew, I still enjoy menthol of course, particularly after a meal or with morning coffee.

Just my experience & taste... All subjective of course, ymmv [emoji1]

It seems to be a lot of trial and error with menthol, especially for those like me who can't get into fruity or sweet vapes. Right now I'm vaping MBV USA Menthol, it is very menthol-y, but it tastes really good somehow from the tobacco exhale.

I also mistakenly ordered Legend from HHV, which is way too tobacco flavored for me; but I'm sure someone accustomed to a pipe or something similar would love it.

You can do a search for menthol and find some really good suggestions, but just going page by page will be difficult because most people love those sweet flavors (wish i was one of em!).

I was disappointed the same when I first started vaping and bought up mints and menthols. Like the other guy said, peppermint and wintergreen are really where it's at in terms of satisfying minty flavors, at least they're not ridiculously overpowering and much easier to mix.

However my favorite vendor had a Menthol Tobacco that was outta-this-world! It tasted just like a marlboro menthol, or so damn close it was pretty hard to disgintuish the difference. Unfortunately they for some reason started flavor shotting it with more menthol and I totally hate it now, haven't ordered it in over half a year because of this. I'd try to recreate it because I do have some Moon Drops (Pure menthol crystal liquid) and the base tobacco which I love so much but I can't ever seem to go through with it in fear of ruining a perfectly good bottle of my ADV. Even losing 5mLs to the cause would be a disaster for my budget.

Point is... there's hope yet!! Maybe check out DIY section as I'm SURE there are folks who've delved much deeper and discovered the ancient lost art of the menthol tobacco vape. :vapor:

I just received my package from Halo about an hour ago. I had ordered their Subzero and got the menthol sampler pack and a couple of free bottles of Menthol X. So far I have tried both the Subzero and the Menthol X (I put the Subzero into the Halo Triton tank and the Menthol X into the g6 mini tank). They weren't kidding when they said that their Subzero was very strong. I definitely don't get the Vapo Rub taste from it. It tastes like vaping an Altoid, or a Hall's menthol cough drop, but I don't mind it one bit. I do like the Menthol X better though, you definitely get the menthol taste but it isn't overly strong at all. It does have a stronger menthol taste than menthol analogs though.

I've already tossed the bottle I bought yesterday in the trash.

May want to save it. Many juices need a 'steeping' time, which often totally changes the flavor. And color often too. Leave it uncapped in a dark closet for a week or two or a month or two, then try it again. Some of the diy juices I brew totally change in flavor when steeped, and loose any of the 'perfumey' smell & taste it may have when initially mixed.

Second, your taste will change. Juice I love today thought was terrible when I first started vaping.

Third, You can get hundreds of flavorings, perhaps a couple drops of another flavoring ... for instance melon or strawberry ... can often save a terrible juice & make it quite tasty.

Fourth, put it to the side, perhaps a friend or family member wants to try vaping..... give them the juice, who knows, they may love it. We all have different tastes.

But finally, you could be right, some juice just needs to go down the drain :p

I second the strong vapor rub and first a cough syrup smell... maybe they market it toward the ego users. Soo mister e liquid huh?

Sent from the dust in front of you!

Yup mister e liquid. I went to one of their stores to buy my second starter kit after many years away from vaping. I tried around 30 flavors at their juice bar. The only thing that was like a real cig was their ICE (menthol). I was not a menthol smoker, but would occasionally buy a pack as a change up. All of their ICE flavors had that cold menthol hit at the back of the throat on inhale just like a real cig. On exhale the menthol would mix with the flavor it was blended with. To me it was much closer to a real cig experience than any tobacco flavor. Personally, I liked their fruit/menthol blends the best. Actually talking about it is making me think about going and picking up a bottle in the next month or so.
