I'm on day 3 of trying out a carto-tank; an IBTanked 19mm HalfLing with a Smok 2ohm coil. It is tiny, so use it on my ProVape-1. For comparison purposes, I loaded up a ProTank 2 (with Tatroe cap) and 2 ohm coil, with the same juice- 18mg Alice In Vapeland Sweet Tease. Also on a ProVape-1. Wicking isn't an issue with either tank- both wick this juice well. The carto is airy and produces a sweeter, more flavorful vape and the PT2 has a deeper draw, with a more mellow flavor. The lemon really comes out in the carto-tank, while the tea is more pronounced in the PT2. The PT2 produces richer vapor, while the carto-tank, somewhat lighter vapor- not so much less, but thinner vapor, if that is possible. I'm undecided as to which is better, for me. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. As it is, I'll enjoy both.

Guess ill just have to buy what i know for now. I'll try carto tanks when i can justify it. Pretty broke right now :)

I don't know if this thread is helping you any. As you can see there are those that think carto's are fantastic. Some people that I think have good taste like some clearos. You probably saw the post where I said I stepped on an evod, well....I didn't want to use it anymore so I stepped on it. Some have mentioned clearos they like. Zoe could not give me a helpful answer as to why. :p

The people at least in here are not making huge claims as something being the best. (unlike the eRoll fans):p

Your mileage will vary but they can take my carto tanks when they pry them from my cold dead fingers. :)

Thanks for your input (and staying on topic) :p

I've only been vaping for a few months...had been using clearos exclusively and soon became annoyed with their inconsistent performance. At this point in my vaping career I have little interest in fiddling, rebuilding coils, etc so I recently decided to try carto tanks. I got a couple of the cheap Pyrex Smoktech tanks and I've been vaping those for a couple weeks. So far so good! The whole experience is so much more predictable and consistent...no weird flavors, burnt hits, no leaking or flooding at all (yet, at least). Overall a more pleasurable and satisfying experience. I'd say the flavor is over all a little better than the best clearo hits (although when my Smoktech Aro was working right I did get some sublime flavor from it). I just ordered my first IBTanked a couple days ago and I'm excited. Now if only Ikenvape would get more of their punched cartos in stock for me to try I'd be a very happy carto camper!

Savoir-Faire is everywhere!
I vape 5 to 6 ml a day and haven't found a clearo yet, top or bottom coil, that can keep up. MAP tank, T3, PT2 that I bought and others at the vape shop, I hate dry hits! Using Boge cartos the only leaking I've had was in unpressurized aircraft. As you go up the air pressure goes down so the higher pressure air in the carto tank forces the juice out. The filler in the Boge cartos is pretty dense (that's a good thing) but works with any PG/VG ratio I've used. Do the thermometer shake to prefill. I keep going back to my tried and true carto tanks.

I like cartotanks better, too. I just have a few Hypertanks in the rotation because sometimes I just want to use them and they're actually still doing okay for me. I have far more flavors than I have tanks so it's easier to just fill a bunch and change the topper when I'm in the mood to switch.

Been using evods rebuilt with cotton for a few months. Buying a bunch of new stuff soon. I was pretty set on getting 2 itaste vv v3s and mini protank 2s. but, i just read a few things with people saying stuff like RBA>Carto>Clearo>...

Was thinking about trying the mini 3ml Smok DCT v2 (with 2.0 ohm single coil cartos)

Have clearos caught up to cartos?

How many pre cut holes for 50/50 juice?

Having vaped with a myriad of toppers, I would say no. For me, there is simply no clearo that equals the satisfaction of the vape I get from a carto tank. Having said that, the Aspire line is pretty damm good, and I do use them in rotation.

But for that "Ahhhhhhhhhhh" feeling... it's a good carto tank set up. I love a consistent vape.

Ollie, I'd give the Smok DCT a whirl and see what you think.

For a 50/50 vliquid, 2 holes should suffice quite nicely.

Thank you. I will try one with 2 holes :)

I've been singing the praises of cartos around here for the last few weeks since I got my first, and I see a whole lot of other new carto users around. Sometimes what's old is new again, and sometimes it's because it just works better. For me, I get better flavor and vapor than any clearo I've tried, and there are quite a few of those sitting around here.

(That being said. Please Hold off on getting an IBtanked or a Phiniac until after Christmas. I NEED more, and a lot of the stuff I want is out of stock!!! ;).

I haven't found a clearo that I like as well as a cartotank. And I've never even tried a nice carto tank, just the $3-5 stuff on Healthcabin. I went through a period of almost a year where I vaped 100% cartos in 2-3 tanks in rotation. I'm no Smoktech Dual Coil carto salesmen, I've had plenty of duds, but to set up 2-3 tanks and not have to fiddle with anything for a couple of weeks is a pretty great thing. I haven't had a 2-hole carto flood since about a month into vaping. There's just something about that throat hit that's hard to beat.

A properly rebuilt evod can be GREAT, but I have not had consistent results with them at all.

Aspire BDC's do great in vapor production and have a nice capacity, but I find the flavor to be the absolute worst. I purchased 3 in a group-buy here and have tried 50/50 25/75 and 100VG of varying flavors and concentrations, all of which have sat with juice in them for weeks. Flavor is absolute filler material only, I can't tell what juice I have in there.

If I could start over today, I would buy a 10 pack of cartos, a couple nice tanks for them and a Kayfun or Kayfun type and run with it.

I feel like I'm the only person here that prefers clearos. :(

I've never run into the problem with dry hits. Maybe because I tend to hold my rig almost horizontal when I vape so the wicks are saturated. Nor have I had leakage problems. I use mainly mini vivi novas.

I've tried carto-tanks a couple of times and just couldn't get into it. They seemed to require more fiddling to get them set up (which could very well have been due to my inexperience) and I didn't think the taste was any better. I tend to swap flavors in and out frequently and I find it easier with clearos. I re-build my heads (bought pre-made coils from fasttech) so - as long as I don't actually break the clearo - it should last almost forever.

I certainly agree that clearos are more forgiving when changing flavors. Well, unless you save the carto in a baggie or something.

ie, cleaning a clearo head and getting the old flavor out of it is possible, which really is not possible with a carto.

When I am testing new flavors, I go like this. Use it in a dripper. If I like it, I will try it in an iclear16. if I still like it, then it goes into a tank.

A juice has to be 'carto worthy' in my eyes. ;)

But I am at the point that I have 4 flavors or so that I vape all the time, so having them in carto tanks, each in their own one, works quite well for me.

When doing a side by side comparison cartos are so much more flavor.
Smoother.
They imo are just intimidating. But once you get it, look at baditudes blogs and get a thingy from ibtanked to prime. You are set.

Now that im into cartos i cant understand why clearos are still being made!
My problem was the first time i tried cartos i did not like them, i was not using a tank or a vv device. It tasted funny.
So i bought 8 different clearos and thouht i couldnt find a good juice.
Fed up i tried a cartotank, omgosh im so glad i didnt throw out all the juices i soent money on because they are all sooo much better now.

I feel dumb for not listening to baditude on my third day of beeing on this forum.
Had i listend i would hqve saved a ton of money and would have been much happier with my experience.

I started with IClear clearos, I rapidly got to the point where I hated them. I switched to EVOD then PT2 and like both. I decided I would try the Carto systems to see what it was like and got the SMOK pyrex thing with DC Carts. It was great all day till I went from my air conditioned office to outside and the temps dropped like 30 in a weather change along with clouds rolling in.

My precious tank full of strawberry lemonade promptly started emptying through the cart and I was UNHAPPY. I will give it another shot I have 4 more carts, I will just fill halfway with a juice I am not so excited about. Maybe when I can look at the tank without mourning my lost strawberry lemonade :(

To me... it's all about consistancy.

I've tried several clearomizers over the years, and they are just not consitant enough for me.

i have a few Pro Tank II's and a few Davide Clearo's, and they just do not feed consistantly. I have tried all the little tricks with them, but they just do not provide the consistancy of a cartomizer (yet).

Just ordered a couple J-Tanks, a filler tool, a carto punch, and some carto's. I have some Boge carto's that will last me until my orders get here, and plan on just using carto/tanks for now. As of now, I think this is the most consistant way to go until something better comes along.

Tomato - tomahto. I use both carto tanks and clearomizers and find from ejuice to ejuice some preform and taste better in one or the other, so I can not make any definitive recommendation. I would recommend that if what you are using comes up short of your expectations give a carto tank a try. Every clearomizer/carto tank/RBA/etc. that I have used has both positive points and drawbacks...no perfect juice delivery system out there as of yet.

I still use low and reg cartomizers when I vape dark juices or Mrs. T. They are something I use at home cause they do not stay filled as long as clearmizers and other tanks that I use when we are out. I still use batteries as really have not gotten into mods. It's really up to the person. Its part of the fun of trying what fits your budget and what really you like.
