Well I have been thinking about this and the whole "Can they be called safer debate" and here is what I have come up with.
(1) If I fall asleep with a vaporizer in my hand I can not burn my house down.
(2) If I grab the wrong end I can not burn myself or cause other injury
(3) If I drop it while driving down the road I know it wont burn my body or my car, therefore I will not panic and possibly cause a car accident.
Based on these 3 facts alone I think it is more than fair to say "this is a safer alternative to smoking"

Just my thoughts, maybe I'm just staying up too late

(4) No second hand smoke.
(5) No Tar or any other of the 4000 chemicals in cigarette smoke.
(6) No need for lighters or matches.

Let's see how many pros and cons we can come up with.

Sadly enough, although good points, those particular points won't have an effect on legal issues.

Enforcement of smoking bans did not kick in on NYC construction sites till after there was a very high profile fire in a building adjacent to ground zero. After that fire, smoking bans became heavily enforced throughot NYC construction sites.

The risk of fire hazard is a large part of the smoking bans from what I can see so I would have to disagree that it will have no effect on legal issues.

Good point! I'll withdraw that statement.

I never looked outside of the internal health box before. I like the safety factors that you have pointed out. All valid points!! No more blisters between your fingers from the cigarette sticking to your lip when you try to pull it out of your mouth....I know you have all done it....we all have at least once haha!

I never got blisters on my fingers doing it, but invariably it would happen while driving and I would be looking for a place to pull over while the cherry burned down into the carpet.

There was nothing worse than that frantic, "oh damn where did that go!! Pull over fast!! Don't hit anyone!! Watch the road, find the burning cig, damn, damn!!"

Ok, here's a pro analog point (you wanted pro's N con's)

1. They are not embargo'd by the FDA.
2. Easily attainable.
3. You can bum one off your friend.
4. Made in the USA.
5. Built in timer
6. Smoker's cough is NOT swine flu.

But that being able to breathe stuff still tops all these!

7 Don't forget the chance to pay into the tax fund for health care for kids!

These are great points about safety. This got me thinking, and I put a couple drops of ejuice in an ashtray I have laying around, and tried to torch it. It didn't burn.

How could I have forgotten about the children....oh, I'm so bad.....

I'm not surprised it didn't burn, but good point...

And if I happen to be using a USB passthrough when I drop it, I can just fish it back up carefully by the wire and continue where I left off.

EDIT: OH! the children.......well, the gene pool needs to be filtered occasionally. It used to filtered quite regularly when I was growing up: No helmets, no car seats, get your .... beat if you didn't behave. Survival of the fittest and all that. :D

Lol...I've done this several times. It's actually really painful at the time and the blisters stick around for quite a while! Definitely a "pro" for e-cigs.
