Hello everyone,I really hate to keep saying the same thing but either i just don't get it or i'm doing something wrong.I have watched these you tube reviews about how much more flavor you can get at higher watts but i have an atlantis 2 tank with a .5 coil in it which is rated for i think 70-80 or 90.I have a sigelei 150 tc and i can get a better vape from an istick 40 with a melo tank.I just don't see it.Are all of these reviewers lying or what? You all are probably gonna say stay with the 40 but i would like more flavor.Any help you guys can give a newbie would be great.Thank you all for putting up with all the questions.

It depends on what they are comparing them to.

If they said a Subohm tank has more flavor at 50W with 20/80 than a Kayfun at 10W with 60/40 they are lying.

If they are comparing a Subohm tank to a RDA and say the sub ohm tank has better flavor at all... Lying.

If they say a Subohm tank produces more vapor at higher power they are right.

I remember seeing lots of reviews raving about the STM and STN and how amazing the flavor was compared to RDAs. I thought, 'I'll bite'. I hadn't bought a clearo for a year since I retired my Aspire CE5S and started rebuilding and and I was in the market for a one. When I went to try it out at my B&M I thought huh? It wasn't bad, but definitely nothing special and not on par or close to my RDA/RTAs. I just got a Eleaf GS-Tank with 1.2 coils and that has better flavor than the STM at almost a third of the price and it looks amazing on the iStick 40W.
My conclusion is a lot of these reviewers started off with frank opinions, covering lots of information for new vapers but now are defacto PR agents for these companies. Notice how a large chunk of reviews on the same product are released at around the same time using the same terms to describe said product. They are a good source of entertainment and a great way to get a good look at the details of the product, especially if you're buying online, but take their opinions with a grain of salt and do you own research. Most of these reviewers are now social media entities now and have to push and hype the latest and greatest or they'll cease to exist. You're not doing anything wrong, the way you like to vape is the way you like to vape and there are lots of options out there to help you achieve that goal or tweak your vape experience to exactly the way you like it, it just might not be what the big manufacturers are pushing this month. The market atm is all about TC, high wattage, huge airflow, sub ohm coils and clearos and if your style of vaping doesn't fit that main segment of the current market I can see exactly how you might feel that way. Well thats my two cents anyway :)

I have a few Kanger STMs in my daily rotation; they're great tanks. But if some reviewer told me that I'd get better flavor from them compared to RDAs I'd break out in maniacal laughter.

Your perspective of reviewers is spot-on, btw. Too many consumers expect these guys (& gals) to be the final say on a product. Everything needs to be taken with a grain of salt; there's worthwhile info to be gleaned but it's up to the individual vaper to use a modicum of discernment regarding what they need out of a product.

Well honestly the Atlantis 2 came out just so you could run .3 coil heads with a bigger airflow so actually the 1st version you might have actually enjoyed, so you may try closing off the top airflow and putting the bottom airflow to the minimum and should be great @ 35 - 45 watts, you are pre soaking your heads before installation right ? and the flavor should be getting better as you get through about 3/4 of your first tankful.

This is exactly why I went out to try it. It's a shame that that's what they were saying because I think they are good sub ohm tanks, but not RDA/RTA flavor equals and that applies to the GT-Tank as well. On the other hand coming from the old Aspire and Kanger Protanks and only having those clearos to compare them to they are worlds apart. I was really impressed. Now I am after a tank to use at around .5ohm for longer, restricted lung hits that produces good flavor. What are your experiences with the Mini and Nano. The Mini is appealing to me as it has the rebuildable deck. Not really big on huge airy draws, but I like a longer, slightly restricted lung pulls and I know the Nano can do that with it's airflow options. The GT-Tank can, but it's really not built for it. I felt the Nano did this with much more ease.

As you can see from the responses so far, there is more to it than just watts. Plus, as ImThatGuy said, the 0.5 ohm coil is rated at 20-30w which is a lot different than what you thought it was. BTW, the mod doesn't matter much in all this, it's just a power supply and 40 watts from one of them is basically the same from all of them unless you run into a mod that is inaccurate. TC is a feature that will eliminate dry/burnt hits if you do it right, but in my experience it does nothing else to make your vape better.

Atty air chamber design maters a lot for flavor and flavor accuracy. Kayfun types like the Melo and Aqua are very good for this. OTOH, so are RDAs like the Zenith (probably maxes out at around 50 watts) and the Psywars Onslaught (around 75 watts max). Attys like the Atlantis with factory coils will make decent vapor but will never be as flavorful at any power level as the good flavor attys are.

Then there are the other variables like air flow and the coil and wicking used. With rebuildables you can set these up as you wish but you're still limited to what the atty design can do.

With reviewers you also do better once you know which ones are honest, which ones are knowledgeble enough to know what they are actually doing and which ones are fanboys/fangirls or just outright shills. Even with knowledgeble and honest reviewers there are still the factors of personal taste and preferences that influence reviewers that may not be the same as your tastes and preferences.

What I did early on was find a handful of reviewers I liked and then I compared what they said about a product with my experience with the same thing. It didn't take long until I had a few go-to reviewers that I stuck with until they either changed their MO or I grew away from them.

Good luck with it :thumb:

In the "olden days" I used to drip on a cisco HH357 hybrid atomizer (as a matter of fact, it is still working 2 years later, but I am very careful with it, never dry burned it, etc.)

If you can't get "flavor" out of a direct drip on an HH357, I can tell you that it's the ejuice, and equipment isn't going to make flavor where there is none.

This is why I still use a high grade dripping atty like this to test my DIY and any vendor juice i purchase. It pretty much tells you what you need to know, and very quickly and economically (saves having to build a coil, or pour ejuice into a tank, etc.). 4 drops and you know what you are dealing with

I'm betting he's been watching the wild one on the tube. He says everything is the best or his favorite.

Taste is subjective and higher watts isn't always true. A good example is I prefer to drip on a mech than a vw. I get a more complex vape, you could say. It starts out cool and goes to warm, the flavor changes as that happens. When I tried on a vw device, I just felt I was not getting all the flavors.

Some reviews are honest opinions, while others are paid. Think about it, if people send them product to review and they down stuff, guess what. No more freebies, because why give something to someone that isn't going to sell your stuff for you.

Only reviews I trust are Green's and PBusardo. If I want to know about more standard gear I'll watch indoor smokers. I also look at them as infomercials and for entertainment purposes only.
