Savoir-Faire is everywhere!
I'm going to try MOD+rba soon but I might just keep those at home and use ego-twist and carto when I'm out , yet I still prefer cotton wicks also when I'm out ,
how come all Cartos i find have silica wicks ? no1 makes them with cotton?
People make their own wicks with cotton when they rebuild.

Most people rewick their clearos with cotton once they get them. But Naturevape does have a line of clearos built with micro coils & cotton. Their site is down right now but if you are interested in purchasing some you might try to contact them through their FB page.

Also, for carts have you considered the Diver or Killer? You can use either of these with cotton & use it with a carto tank.

I have heard, but don't know if true, that the new style manger duals use cotton. Personally I use my kangers till they loose flavor then rewick with cotton myself, its relatively easy to do once you figure out the correct amount of cotton to use....to much and the airflow sucks, and you will get nasty dry hits, too little and you will have hot spots on your coil and get nasty burnt taste....right amount and you will have yummy vape heaven

Most prebuilts do not use cotton because cotton burns. A try hit on silica might taste bad but with cotton you are burning the wick.

This ^^^. It would be OK for someone who rewicks so if they have that one good burnt hit it's no big deal. I suspect most people who use clearos don't rewick. No one who uses regular cartos rewicks because you simply can't get in there AFAIK.

Cartos are actually filled with polyester fiber. Stock attys and clearos use silica for the wicking material.

I can't see a carto filled with cotton. It would have to be packed so tight in order to not lose it's shape in a vertical tube that it wouldn't work well. If it was loose enough it would just collapse under it's own weight once saturated. One way or the other, you would end up with a gooey puddle of cotton separating from the coils it's supposed to surround and... just wouldn't work.

Clearos coils and stock attys use silica wick for similar reasons. It won't lose it's shape, can be rinsed without falling apart, and can withstand heat without burning. If stock Kanger coils came with cotton wicks this place would be rife with complaints about coils not lasting 48 hours even. All it takes is one mistake with cotton and it needs to be replaced, something not all users are willing to do.
