Are there M401/Pilot USB passthrough vendors in US?

Does anyone know where to find an m401/Pilot USB passthrough (assuming there is such a thing) being sold in the US? I found a site trueman-ecig.com that has them, but I am very reluctant to buy from a site in China because I have not been able to find out if they are reliable or legit.

ps.... how does one add the code to display the stats showing the stats since an analog cig was last used? I ran across the code the first time that I signed up for the forum, but then the forum wouldn't allow me to use it (not enough posts, which doesn't seem fair), and now I can't find it anymore at all.

USB Passthrough for the 401

It is a DSE401 passthrough which works just fine on my M401/Pilot/EVO ecigs. I have been using it for 2 weeks 8hrs a day. I have no problems at all with it.

That is very interesting.... puresmoker (where I bought mine) told me that there is no passthrough for the pilot/m401 - but the didn't mention that the dse401 would work! I'm going to ask them specifically. How do you get that smokfree code and make it work?? I love it.

I have been watching the trueman-ecig.com site for the last two weeks. It looks like they are just starting up thier business. They had issues with paypal not working at first and issues with there web site in general. Consider me a "guinea-pig" as I just placed an order with them this week. Worst case, I am out a hundred-bucks, but I do have a certain amount of faith in small business people in general.

I did have very pleasent communications (e-mail) with thier sales support. They ship by EMS so I wouild expect to see my order in a week or two at the most. I will keep you posted if it arrives.

I purchased spare parts hardware only. Even though virtually all liquid comes from China, I prefer to by it from a USA based supplier. This may sound sick, but if there was a serious problem (accute) with any liquid from a USA supplier, I believe word would get out quickly, even on this forum. This should minimize my chance of getting really bad juice. We are all guinea-pigs to some extent, but I will take greater risk with hardware and my own dollars than with liquids.

I've noticed that trueman-ecig.com has a one year guarantee on their atomizers. I emailed them to see how that works. I'll post when I get an answer.

My observation on trueman-ecig:

1) Very secretive. Unlike Bestecig, does not show their Bank/ Western Union info. Requires customers to contact them.

2) Only accept Paypal cash. Does not accept credit cards via Paypal. Not a good thing for customers as credit cards gives much better buyer protection and the fact that they specifically refuse this raises concern.

3) Very high shipping. $25 for 1 starter kit. $35 for 2 kits. Totally cancels off the low prices.

4) Sells parts and cartridges for pretty much all models, except for the M401.

Don't be paranoid. All of them comes from China. Even the local supplier you buy from gets it from China. With the impending ban, you better get used to Chinese retail.

I just tried to place an order with trueman-ecig for 4 of the usb passthroughs so I have 2 each for me and a friend I am gathering up the perfect care package for... but they are having problems with PayPal (still or again). At $9 a pop it is worth the $25 shipping! That is what 1 passthrough costs from said US supplier,and they are currently out of stock anyway. I also googled for the passthough . If said US supplier had them in stock, I would have bought one and never tried to find another source. They look like exactly the same item. I wish trueman-ecig would get their PayPal in working order.

They have the option for paypal credit card as well now with a 3% processing fee. That is... If/when they get Paypal working again. At the moment... neither Paypal option is working...

I just picked up a passthrough for a 901, and it's made my vaping expirience much more zen like at the computer. I want one for my 401, too. Maybe when one of my batteries goes, I'll make one like they're doing in the mod section. Would be fun to get out the old soldering gun,,,


I built a synthesizer kit once,,, I should be able to tackle a mod.

I was disappointed that the wallplug usb that runs my usb charger chord for the 401, doesn't have the oomph to run my passthrough. I want to get a double usb carplug and a dual hub wall unit, and I should be able to minimize the time i need to use my batteries.

I'm seeing that powering your ecig is a major consideration!!

Still healing and prr'en for my m401! Have still not touched another analog (so far)... but i won't weep myself to sleep at night if i stumble a bit.

That is a disappointment. I thought of that as well.. I have been eying the wall plug for the m401 and wondering if it would work for that. I guess now I know it won't I have a regular electric plug in my car that works when the motor is running.. I have recharged batteries in the car with it... i was hoping I could use a passthrough with it (while a passenger) as well.

Has anyone bought the 901 passthrough battery from bestecig? I got one with my last order but it doesn't seem to work with any of my USB adapters, although some are rated at 1000mA. The only way it worked was plugged directly into a computer and then did not work very well at all. I'm wondering if it's defective or I just haven't found the right combination yet.

trueman-ecig seem to have worked out all the kinks and had been keeping me updated through email. I successfully purchased 4 of the 401 passthroughs at $9 each yesterday using Paypal credit card option. So that was 4 for $36. There was a processing fee of 3.1% I think it was for the paypal credit card option and the ems shipping fee they charged was pretty high.. Total for order came to $63.48.. Ouch! But if you compare to the US supplier selling each passthough at $25... I would have paid $100 plus shipping (and they have been out of stock for at least a 2 weeks anyway. I kept checking. I'm assuming they are held up/seized through customs as many large orders have been) I wanted 4... 2 for me and 2 for another friend so we would have backups in case they die.

last night I got an email from them telling me they shipped them out. They also left me a link to contact them if they do not get here within 10 business days. They do seem to have had a shoddy start, but are working out the kinks and they are good at getting back to you. Too bad there was nothing else on their site I want or will want in the future.

But I will finally have the passthroughs and did not have to go through Centraltrade to get them. Talk about hassle! Central trade only allows bank to bank transfer or Western Union and they charge a fee if you do not buy in bulk. Good for a supplier, but not for a consumer. I really feel bad for the suppliers right now... all that money invested and possibly losing so much if their orders are not released.

I will update one more time once they arrive. (or fail to) I don't mind being a guinea pig if it helps others get this item. As of now they still have 90 passthroughs in stock if anyone else wants to give it a go....

So far the factory haven't produced the USB passthroughs for M series products yet. We will talk to the Smoore factory the end of this month to see if there is any possibility they can make such products for us. Or else we can only have other factories make such products for us.

Makes sense since the passthrough was made for a DSE401 and though compatable are not manufactured by the same people. I do love the thought of Smoore making one themselves and hope something comes of it

cyberwolf, I'm not exactly sure and maybe somebody can give you assistance if this is incorrect. To my understanding a battery passthrough might need to be charged first before it is fully functional. Try leaving it on a powered usb hub for a while and see if that clears thing up. Then again, maybe I'm wrong. Good luck.

The Bestecig passthroughs do not have an inline battery, or didn't when I ordered mine a couple months ago. Therefore there is nothing to charge first.

I use mine on a powered USB hub and it works great. We also got them working fine on the USB car adapter from here: DealExtreme: $6.50 USB 4-port Car Adapter
