Just got a DSE 905 in the mail today (not sure why, shouldda just got a high v. mod). Annnyhoo, These Chinese batts that came with it aren't marked "protected" and I was wondering if there was a way to tell? They are 5cm long and I can feel an indented ring a couple mm from the pos. end (protective curcuit?). I currently have the first batt charging in the kitchen and I'm about to go into town to Radio Shack to see if they have some Ultrafires or something. Hope the house don't burn down. jk

Hi Mis,

You will not find any batteries at Radio Shack or for that matter in any "main stream" brick and mortar store as these types of unprotected batteries are still considered by many companies to be to dangerous to sell to the public.

If it does not say it on the battery, there is no way to tell with certainty that the battery is protected. If you look at the battery of your DSE 905, you should see indents at both the top and bottom of the battery. In there lies the PCB.

But again, absent a direct statement on the battery, there is no way to know if it is protected and I would advise ordering your own so you are positive as to what you are using. Again the use of unprotected batteries is dangerous and should not be done.

Hope that helps,

Sun
