Everyone says they feel great when they quit smoking. I go from feeling ok to feeling like I'm dying on and off. My throat hurts, my joints and muscles ache, on and off headache, and I actually coughed up almost black phlegm. I have never coughed up anything that color before.

Its so weird because all the symptoms( except the mild sore throat which has been constant) switch on and off at the same time. Ill go from feeling like total crap from head to toe to feeling better than "ok" almost good like euphoria (and I don't use any illegal drugs lol). I have been vaping for a couple weeks with a few analogs a day. Went totally analog free 3 days ago.

Yup all of those can be from quitting smoking. My best friend quits cold turkey all the time (about 3x a year) and I get to listen to her moan through those and other symptoms for about a week each time. Then she starts smoking again and I prepare for her next "quit" lol. You'll make it through. Eat well, sleep well, drink lots of fluids.
You might have also caught a bug...a cold or something on top of quitting.
One caveat...you know your body better than ANYONE if you really feel off...if you know something just isn't right go see your doctor. Better safe than sorry.

*nod* Do a google search on "common symptoms quitting smoking" - there is a laundry list of symptoms including the ones you are experiencing. Not everyone gets all of them, and not everyone experiences them at the same level, but it's very common.

Also common is gastro-intestinal distress; abdominal pain or discomfort, bloating, gas, ......... Fun, eh? :(

The productive cough, while unpleasant and nasty, is a good thing. It means that your lungs are healing and now able to expel the built up nasties in the phlegm you are coughing up.

I had a lot of the same symptoms. I also got a couple of whopping migraine headaches. The fatigue is annoying, isn't it? I felt uncontrollably sleepy at times.

With the joint and muscle aches, do yourself a favor and check your temperature. If it's elevated and persists, go to the Dr. and make sure you don't have an infection.

Sometimes symptoms overlap and it's hard to tell what's what.

It passes and you'll notice it lessens as the days go by. You'll feel better soon! You're doing a really good thing! :)

The throat hurt could be from vaping due to dehydration ,imo. The throat was worse in beginning for me ,I have throat issues so am overly paranoid over them, started well before starting vaping. The joint pain may be enhanced by this evil cold winter and a lot of forced heat, know the dehydration level my way is that of a saltine cracker. It is a grey area for sure, but a lot better than the black lung area of smoking. The weird euphoria feeling from vaping I attribute to getting the nic we love and not getting the other things in a analog like carbon monoxide and made me really wonder what was going on and what was happening to me.
