The skyrocketing popularity of e-cigarettes: A guide - The Week
One of my favorite high-brow reads. I have been lurking but figure I might as well start posting and get verified here.
My story:
I smoked on and off for years, I am still young and a recent extremely serious health diagnosis threw me for a mental loop. I ended up in the ICU, almost lost a limb, and they put me in the hyperbaric chamber 39 times to save it. It still hasn't healed. I started to smoke again, knowing how bad it was for me. I just couldn't deal with the pain. Nicotine constricts blood vessels, hampering the body's ability to heal. But I was also anxious as hell. The love of my life left me in the hospital (!) running off with someone else and that just put me over the deep end. I was devastated and deeply depressed on top of every thing else I was going through.
My roommate had switched from 1 1/2 packs a day of Winstons to V2 cigs. He talked me into it, and I finally made an order. I figured, at least I wouldn't smell like smoke and get caught by the nurses. I wasn't impressed with V2, nor the battery or quality of carts. So, I did research, finding this forum. I learned about the EGO type, and bought a 1100mAh KGO from Hoosier. I have been using that, along with a plethora of delicious juices from local suppliers. I have recently switched to a VMod XL tank. Yes, there is still nicotine in my ejuice, but the plan is to cut back. At least there are only a handful of chemicals in what I inhale, not 4,000. I call my ecig my "weed," and I lay in bed and puff away the day. Smoking has a calming effect on me, and I've been totally fine with transitioning to eCigs. I have managed to convert a few friends over so far, too, or at least they have cut back on analogs. I want to pay it forward and help others. You folks on here have been so helpful, and I thank you. Lives and livelihoods are being saved here.
