Aspire Atlantis Coils Issue

So I have had an Atlantis for about 3 weeks now. I have only switched coils once because I wanted to try and rebuild it. The second coil has been running great for over a week now until last night. For the first time, I filled the tank with the coil screwed into the tank to get the extra capacity. I got a burned taste within 5-6 pulls on it. Why is that filling method killing coils? is it because the extra liquid doesn't leave enough airspace for proper wicking?

I must be lucky no problems out of mine. I use up to 80 vg with no dry hits at 30 watts. And nothing hitting the back of my throat except hot juice.
