Hey Guys,

I'm fairly new to e-cigs. I've been a smoker for over 10 years and I just want a simple alternative once in awhile. I had one crappy generic ego style one as my first and got what I paid for. Recently I picked up an aspire. I thought it was very well made, comfortable, etc. After about a month it leaked all over my car.

My question is, are Aspires known to leak? And do you have suggestions to prevent that or brands you know are leak-proof? I took good care of it and made sure I followed instructions.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

Any container with liquid has the potential to leak at some point.

You said your tank leaked in the car. Was there a drastic change in temperature? Changes in temperature or air pressure can cause changes in the vacume of the tank and cause leaking. Changes in elevation (sea level to mountain level) can too. Riding in an airplane (pressurization), too.

Perhaps you didn't fit the parts together snuggly. Too tight or too loose (including the coil head) can cause leaking.

An overly strong draw can lead to flooding or leaking. Clearos work best with a slow, gentle, even draw. Too hard of a draw will bring more liquid to the coil than it can vaporize, and the excess has no place to go but into the mouthpiece.

There are several models of Aspire tanks. Which one did you buy? The Aspire Nautilus (and Mini Nautilus) is one of the better tanks on the market and quite popular.

If you leave a clearo tank in a hot car, pressure will likely build up in the tank, forcing the liquid out through the wicking holes

Hey! thanks for the replies!

I got the Aspire starter kit. I thought about car temp, I guess it's possible but unlikely to be the cause. The vape was in the car for only a couple days, garaged for most of the time. Otherwise, it was outside in Seattle weather for only a couple hours a day. Probably not going over 70 to 80 degrees inside the car at any given time.

Perhaps what Baditude said may be an issue. I remember I started hitting it harder with longer draws before it started leaking. It even sounded like there was bubbling or something as if liquid was going where it shouldn't. I'll pay more attention to that :)

Thanks guys!!

Vaping is not as simple as lighting up smoking and throwing away. One of the reasons that some do not switch to vaping or try it and fail.

Definitely an adjustment. Guess it depends on intentions going into it. So far, for me it's been a good experience overall. Takes the edge off of cravings and I don't smell like crap. Working as intended ;)

Juice condensation is also a factor--some of the juice that vaporizes will condense back to liquid within the chimney of the tank. If left unchecked, this condensed liquid builds up and appears to be a leak, even though nothing technically leaked "out of the tank." Periodically, pull off the drip tip, and then mop up any excess juice that sitting in there as well as inside the drip tip's chimney. This is not limited to Nautilus tanks, either. I have other tanks that vape very well, but require periodic mop ups, or else they get the gurgles and seem leaky.

Provided you ensure the seals are good when screwing the base back onto the tank after filling, there should be no problems. But don't overtighten! I'm getting sterling service out of my Aspire Nautilus BVC. A very well-made and durable clearo, and still holding its own against competitors years after its first release. Wouldn't change it for the world, and shall be buying more very soon in preparation for doomsday...

One thing, though: the Nautilus BVC coil head doesn't seem to play well with high-VG juice, so be sure to vape something that is at least 50/50. The more PG, the happier it seems to be.

yeah a friend of mine used the aspire ones and they just simply do not work properly, saddening really.
