whats up guys, im a new member and was looking for some tips. I recently got a aspire nautilus and it worked great for about a week. after that it started leaking out of the ajdustable air holes so i went and got 5 BVC coils because i heard they might help. it didn't. my tank still leaks and gurgles and it is very frustrating. I'm debating on going to get and aspire atlantis, any tips that could fix this? i vape on a mech mod with an 18650 battery and juice that is 70/30 pg/vg if that matters. it seems like it gets worse once my tanks get below 2.5 ml of juice.

The Nautilus, for me, was "finicky". The top has to be secure to the glass, the bottom piece has to be secure to the glass, the coil piece has to be secure to the bottom piece. What is secure; it is all trial and error.

Also, I noticed that it will flood itself when the juice changes more than a 1/4". I just turn it over, unscrew the bottom and then attach it again.

Just finicky, but a good vape. I still have mine and use one on occasion.

While using the Nautilus, I got an RTA to practice with, eventually changed.

Just my experience

I have been using mine on the eleaf mini istick at 4.2v (a good setting for a 50/50 juice imo) ... still gurgles a little bit but I think this may be expected. Mine hasn't leaked like you have described. Maybe your juice is too thin? When closing the tank up, I take the end of the dropper and go around in a circle inside the glass a few times right at the top to lube up the glass. The tank screws on much easier and comes off easier, and this helps to not get it too tight. I attach the coil to the base fairly tight but just with my fingers. Also, if you vape alot, I would use the coil for about two weeks (possibly less) and then change it.

Someone with more experience might have better help.

Every once and a while mine get like that. What I do to fix it is take out the coil and clean out the bottom with a qtip. Then I put the coil back in and turn it upside down and blow. Make sure to put a paper towel against the air hole. This will blow out all the trapped juice that causes the leaking and gurgling.

The top has to be secure to the glass, the bottom piece has to be secure to the glass, the coil piece has to be secure to the bottom piece. What is secure; it is all trial and error.

This duplicates my own experience. Mine leaked all over the place while laying on its side. It leaked through the air holes; I tightened the glass to the bottom part, and no more leakage. Since I don't know why this fixed anything, I'm holding my breath.

It does give a good vape, but I had to form a habit of holding down the fire button for a moment before vaping.

After having many problems with my nautilus gurgling and spitting I tried something different because none of the tips and tricks were working. I switched to a higher vg juice and started screwing my atty into the upper hardware instead of the bottom. No more flooding, gurgling, or spitting since I started this. Yay!

Draw faster. Gurgling is caused by bubbles formed when liquid is reaching it's boiling point. Vapour is formed below this boiling point, starting at what called flash point in combustible liquid. When you take your draw, the air is flowing through your wick wrapped coil, pickup the vapour while reducing temperature of the liquid in your wick. Takes some times to find the equilibrium. Hope this help.

The answers above look good to me and should help you with the flooding issue.

As for the leaks, I recently read a post regarding fluid dynamics that was very useful.

If I was on a laptop I'd link it for you, but I'm on my BlackBerry and it's a bit fiddly.

The best explanation I can give is that you might try to keep a slight negative pressure in the tank which will prevent leakage.

When you refill the tank, ensure you take some short strong draws with the power off, and the air hole in a medium position.

This will create the required negative pressure in the tank. Repeat this occasionally before vaping on the tank, perhaps every half a ml or so, to maintain the negative pressure.

The down side of this is, if you create too much negative pressure you will increase your flooding issue. A bit of trial and error should help you find the right balance.

Hope this helps.

Umm.. Looks like I mixed up with the terminology. I always think that 'gurgling' is the sound created by 'popping' bubble in liquid that leads to spitting. After some search, now I know that the right terminology for that is 'crackling', right? So, I think my reply is not relevant to what TS's problem. My bad. I apology.

The Nautilus works best at high wattage/voltage. With a mech mod you're basically flooding it all of the time because there isn't enough power to convert all of the liquid you're sucking in to it to vapor.

I agree with that. I rebuild my Melo coil with 8 turn of 28 gauge Kanthal wrapped on approx. 3,5 mm diameter screwdriver to obtain 2 Ohm. Teoritically, wattage achived is 7 watt on 4 volt. Vapor production was so thin until I crank up the voltage to 6 volt to achieve about 15 Watt. Now I have decent vapour. Nicrome might have higher watt for 4 volt. But, I avoid using Nickel in my coil for health reason.
There is some 'research' concluding that at some certain voltage, formaldehyde is formed in your vapour. But, actualy, as some other scientist pointed out, it is the temperature of the coil that make it happen. Overheating to be exact. Thats why you should avoid crackling sound in your atomizer.

I have the same problem with my Nautilus. The gurgling is always an easy fix with a qtip. The leaking not so much. I got the Nautilus at the same time a friend got their second tank. Neither of theirs ever leaks, mine always seems to. I thought it was operator error. Even when I made him work on it after a short time it begins to leak out of the air holes. Replaced coils and same thing. Thankfully it's not a constant leak so I just deal with it. Tried a number of different juices and no matter what I use, an occasional leak seems inevitable. Most people don't have this problem so I thought it was just me having bad luck lol

I had gurgling with my Nautilus but never leaked. I was using 70/30 juice from a local vape shop that's fairly popular in Calgary because of their affordable juice prices, when I stopped by another shop I was talking with the owner for a good hour and when I asked about the gurgling he told me the Aspire Nautilus was designed for 50/50 juices, that it would work with my 70/30 stuff but I'd be changing my coil twice as much. He seemed to know a lot, he could tell I was running 70/30 just by looking at my tank (this may not be as impressive as I think haha)

Anyways just thought I'd share this bit of information since it may be relevant.
