Aspire Mini Nova BDC making hot vape and burning taste

I'm pretty much a newbie when it comes to vaping. I smoke hookah regularly and love it, so i figured vaping would be like hookah on the go. I did a little research before i went in to buy some equipment. I heard of the ego twists, and aspire tanks but the saleswoman talked me into getting an Innokin iTaste VV v3 because she said it makes better clouds. But I think my problem is the tank I bought. Most of the tanks were kind of big and looked strange on the iTaste, and since i heard of Aspire I went ahead and bought a Mini Nova BDC just because i liked the look. After getting setup, I was getting really harsh throat hits and numbness in my mouth, I realized that this was because I got 6mg of nicotine (Which i got because i figured it would be similar to a hookah buzz) Besides the juice itself, the vape clouds were less than I originally was expecting but not too bad. After replacing my nicotine juice with some 0mg juice I was loving it. But just a day later im having more issues. The vape has always been really warm, but originially i thought it was the nicotine. I have tried a couple other e-cigs and never got that really warm vape. Also recently my vape tastes burnt more than anything. I bought my whole setup just 4 days ago. I tried turning down my voltage from 5 to 4 and still getting that taste just with smaller clouds. Could my coil just be faulty? Or am I making some newbie mistake im not realizing? The only other thing i can think of is that i cleaned my tank after I replaced my juice and i rinsed the carto a little bit. Besides that Im not sure whats going on. Seems like one time I go to vape, everything is nice, but then the next, everything is wrong. Also I prefer the look of tanks more than cartos, but i dont like the big tanks. If the Mini Nova's just may not work well, does anyone else have suggestions on another smaller tank with a more airy pull than the Mini nova?

do you chain vape? i get a burning when chain vaping. try waiting a minute or so and hitting it again if it's good then its not wicking enough juice in before the next hit. also you can try using your hand and cutting off most of the air flow and taking a few hard hits with out firing to force juice in.

im thinking of punching another hole or two into the atomized to fix this problem but still on the fence

if your getting a burnt taste, its a good chance the rubber grommet is burning, this is especially true if you have a silica wick which most companies sell. (Silica wick dont burn although one guy disagreed, but he was burning it with a torch.) You say the grommet burning 1 day after you took it out of the box? Man yeah, I have had atomizer out of the box not work at all, somewhere between 2-4 of them (memories), and some just flat out started burning out of the box.

There are a few issues with the Aspires.
One is you can't let the ejuice get too low in the tank. Always keep it above 1/3rd filled.

The aspire isca dual coil atomizer. So it has a very warm vapor.

Not getting a lot of vapor could mean you have some restricted airflow. The Aspires are known for putting out a lot of vapor. A solution mat be to unthread the whole assembly just a little. Like a quarter or half turn. That should help get more air through the system.

Try turning your voltage down even more. Start at 3.5 volts and go up a tenth at a time. I never ran my ASpire over 3.8 volts.

Hope some if that helps

It didn't even come in a box. From first glance the grommet doesn't appear burnt. Would you suggest I get a replacement coil?

You cant tell if its burnt from looking on the outside, you have to tear it apart then the coil is ruined anyway, they usually start burning from up inside the chamber, i got lots of burnt grommets like that.............................................. If the taste is soo hot and burnt that when you inhale it hurts your lungs/mouth, its the grommet alright.

You can throw in a new one and see what happens, I dont know much about Aspire, except I watched a video on rebuilding them and the one I saw had four wires in it, a ton of work to rebuild. (So not for me.)

I have like an adaptar/cover ring around where the tank and iTaste screw together, so i fiddled with that alittle and i managed to get a good airflow without it unscrewing. And i lowered the voltage to 3.5 I got about 6 good vapes, and then it started tasting burnt. Honestly I would rather have a tank that can withstand higher voltage and give me better clouds anyway. And since I cant seem to fix this burnt taste, im probably just going to buy another tank. Any good smallish clearomizers out there?

And no its not like hot enough to burn anything, its just very warm and uncomfortable. And yeah, especially the BDC's i hear are a hassle to rebuild. If anything i would just get another one for 10 bucks

6mg juice is pretty weak, so that probably isn't the issue. If your juice is a high percentage VG it may not wick well or you may be running your vaporizer at too high a voltage.

I know its weak, But it was still giving me horrible throat hits. Right after I switched to 0mg, great throat hits. Im not sure the percentage of VG to be honest. I got a store specialty juice so i can ask them about that soon enough. If 3.5 is too high, then the atomizer is horrible. The lowest my iTaste can go is 3.3 and if i wanted to vape with such a weak voltage I could of just bought a cheap starter kit. Like I said while vaping with 3.5 i was still getting that taste.
