Hi everyone,

I just got myself a new Aspire nautilus. It seems genuine, I have read online the differences with the fake/clone models. I tried to scratch the sticker bit for the security code but that messed up and is unfixable.
The box was sealed and came with everything as per online reviews.
I have it connected to my new vamo v5 (stainless steel model).

However, when I check the resistance on it then I am getting a reading of 2.1 or 2.2. The coil I am using is the 1.6. Why am I getting this reading? Is there something wrong? Or will it read correctly after being used for a while?
I am not getting any leaks and the taste is great. The vape is also really good. I am impressed.
But the resistance reading is concerning me.

Please can someone shed some light on this?

Thanks

If everything is working fine, then you really don't have an issue. Your mod could be misreading the ohms...or when you ordered the nautilus you may have accidentally checked a higher ohm rating for the coil when making the purchase.

But like I said, if it's vaping fine, no funny or burnt tastes or anything, or your mod isn't getting overly hot, then I don't think you actually have a problem.

I believe that I am seeing that a lot of Aspire coils are kind of off as far as resistance. Their QC may not be that great. As noted immediately above the difference between 1.8 and 2.1 is not that great. Kick your voltage or wattage up a tad and enjoy.

Thank you everyone for all the quick replies! :)

Okay I suppose I can ignore ohms reading if everything else is good.
I can confirm though the coil that is installed is the 1.6, I caught a glimpse of the number written on the coil before I filled it up.
As for ordering the wrong coils or ticking wrong boxes, well there was no option for different or extra coils on the site where I got it from, it was just the standard package with the 1.6 and 1.8 coil. I have had a look in the box and the other coil is a 1.8 marked on it.

Any recommendations for what voltage I should be blasting my vapes if its reading the ohms at 2.1 or 2.2?? :vapor:
I currently have it set to voltage mode as I read that the vamo v5 isn't great in wattage mode. So I have it set to 4.2 volts but I did try 5 volts an thought that was too much an I think it was about hitting a burn taste if I carried on. I have been fiddling it between 4.0-4.2 volts.

Thanks again everyone, appreciate everyone's input and advice :)

Is my vamo faulty though? Is it worth sending it back for a replacement or change for something else? I only just got it a couple weeks ago.

Based on what I've seen and have read (in this subforum too), the nautilus coils aren't lasting.

I told a guy at the office to pick up a nautilus based on my experience with an older one. So he buys one and the factory coil worked well for a week or so. He changed it out for a new one and the ohms kept rising use after use.

He brings it to me in my office and shows me the reading on his MVP (2.5ohms). I check it on my provari, same reading.

It's done this with two replacement coils. I gave him a coil I purchased with my tank about a month or so ago. i'll find out today if it's working.

Basically, it isn't your battery. It's bad QC from aspire.

I have the same setup, a Vamo V5 with a Nautilus. I'm on my second coil, which is 1.8. My Vamo reads it as 2.1, but my Ohm meter reads it as 1.9, so I just chalked it up to the Vamo not having the best Ohm meter built in.

As for the coils, I was advised by my local B&M that they last about two weeks. The first coil lasted two weeks (almost to the day) and I'm a week into the second coil with no issues. Rip Trippers has a good walkthrough on how to rebuild the coils. Looks easy enough, but I haven't tried.

thanks again guys, everyone's input has been really helpful.
I have a multimeter lying about, I will check the reading with that for the tank and see what that says.

So the coils only last 1-2 weeks huh? I read somewhere that a some people have got it running for much longer than that and giving it a clean an re-using it again.

I will just buy more coils, they aren't expensive.

If I wanted to avoid this hassle then is there any other tank/clearomiser out there that is as good as the aspire nautilus with the less hassle of changing coils so frequent? just curious to know incase I do get fed up of changing it more often than I like.

So far I am loving this aspire, I couldn't put it down last night. My room was Vaped out! lol The smoke clouds are huge and flavour is great, and that airflow control is brilliant. Was like I was smoking shisha in my room lol

Thanks

*edited* Here is a photo of my vamo with the nautilus tank. Thought I'd share :)

And I never had a problem with mine. It would seem that coils purchased much more recently do have issues (burning out in a day or two, this crazy rising resistance issue).

I just feel bad that I recommended the purchase to two people, and now both are having similar problems.
