I bought a 5 pack of these on a whim. I figured they would be totally useless and a waste of money, but curiosity got the best of me so I decided to go ahead and throw the money away to try them out.

I'm actually pleasantly surprised. I still need to play around with the settings a bit to find the "perfect" spot for them, but at 455F and 21.5W on my SnowWolf 200W they really do work quite well. The flavor is a bit cleaner than the Kanthal coils and the draw is a little less restricted. They're putting out a surprising amount of vapor for the size tank and restricted airflow. I normally only use my Nautilus at work and in the car with my wife when large clouds are not desirable, and I wouldn't say these new coils suddenly make it compete with a subohm tank, but the flavor is better and I'm getting even more vapor than I ever did with the kanthal coils.

Overall I am quite impressed with them. I expected them to be a waste of money, and now I'm thinking I wasted my money by buying a 5 pack of kanthal coils last month. The 4 remaining ones will probably never get used.

    Interesting, very interesting.

I've thought of getting the TC coils for my army of Nautilus tanks but thought it might be a waste - I'll have to order some up now.

I've often seen reported that cotton starts browning at 417F and the one and only reason I'm going with TC (or would get TC coils for my Nautilus) is so I don't get burnt flavor so the question is: how does that work at 455F? If your juice is not flowing well or you run out of it or your coils actually hit 455F, won't your wick(cotton) get burned?

(I was thinking I'd need a setting of <= 380F for some margin of error, I hate tossing coils because of burnt taste.)

BONE DRY cotton begins to scorch at around 420F.

But we don't want our wicks to get bone dry, do we? When the cotton is wet it normally won't scorch until it's closer to 500F. Think of it like this... If you hold a cotton T-shirt over an open flame it will almost instantly burn, but if you soak the T-shirt in water and then hold it over the flame it will take 15-30 seconds before it evaporates enough water out of the shirt to burn the cotton.

I tried 475F and while it didn't burn the cotton it seemed a bit too hot for the restricted airflow of the Nautilus so I backed it down. 455F works great though. Flavorful, produces good vapor for the tank, and not a hot vape at all. Using a 60VG/40PG juice I've had no problems taking 5-6 long draws in a row without any hint of the wick drying out. Don't think I would go any higher on the VG though.

Humm.... ok I suppose that makes some sense. I'll now have to get a set of coils and experiment. My current tank is 20/80 (PG/VG) and the other one I'm using heavy is 0/85/15 PG/VG/H20. (no flavoring in ether) With 1.8ohm coils I can push ~10W or ~4-4.5V but anything higher I start damaging the coils. While I like the clouds I get with the higher settings I don't like the tossing of a otherwise good coil. Hence the switch to TC. I want to get as much vape as I can without damaging the cotton.

USPS says the TC-MOD and goodies ought to be here tomorrow or Thursday. I'll have to order some TC coils for the Nautilus and check it out. (might be next week because of the holiday at this point)

You'll definitely want a lower VG juice for the Nautilus. The wicking holes are small, it won't wick thick juices very well.

Hence the % of water in the juice - this stuff ain't thick at all and looks like 100% PG or H2O in the tank.

Technically cotton will start burning at 417F, I like a cooler vape so I figure I could be safe at 300-350F. Amazing amount of vapor at 100% VG (even with 10-20% H2O added) the TC hopefully will act as a 'safety valve' as I know what settings I can get away with on Nautilus coils, being human I just keep pushing it!

I have some 50/50 to use with the subtank mini+TC coils when they get here. I'll slowly work the VG up while seeing what I can get away with on that one.

I wouldn't trust those temperature numbers too much.

What's important is your ability to turn it up or down

Agreed. 450F on my SnowWolf may not be the same as 450F on a YiHi or DNA chip since they are using a calculated algorithm to determine the temperature and not an actual temperature reading.

Wet cotton doesn't scorch at normal vaping temps! That's kinda the whole idea!!
