Hello all!

I just solved a problem that I've seen mentioned a couple of other times online but no obvious solution, I thought I should share it.

My Aspire Pockex was getting extremely hard to puff from, there was only a tiny amount of airflow coming through and the tip was getting hot from the battery. I pulled it all apart, cleaned it, checked the battery head, changed the coils... nothing seemed to work.

I then thought it's probably just as simple as thought; a blocked airflow. The problem with the Pockex is that there is no obvious air intake, it's extremely well hidden. The air hole is quite well hidden on the Drip Tip Base at the top of the device (I've uploaded a picture of it on Imgur at 4WheVsc? but cannot post a link now)

It's in that median line in the centre, above those 0-shaped indentations. On my pockex that line is even narrower, you could't put your fingernail between it for example, and the airhole isn't at all visible. I removed the coil from the tip base and also the rubber cap at the top, and sucked through the top with the opening at the bottom blocked, and using my finger to cover all other possible spots on the tip base until I found where the air was being sucked through.

I then put the tip base under hot tap water for a minute, filled up my kitchen sink with warm water and washing up liquid. I moved the tip back and forth under the water a number of times, to ensure that detergent water was pushing up through the air holes. I then rinsed it out and dried it, and voila! Not only is it working again, it's working as well as it ever has, and blowing huge clouds. I assume that over the year or so that I've had it, the air passage must have almost blocked up, encrusted with that black oily, resin-y substance that accrues. The soap in the water broke down those oils and the water cleared the hole, and I'm back to a very pleasant vaping experience.

Anyway that's it! Just wanted to record this in case someone else comes looking for a fix to this issue.

PockeX was my first vape device (gave it to a friend that is trying to cut down on smokes) It served me well. Which coils are you using (0.6 or 1.2 ohm)? Make sure when you change coils to fill tank and wait at least 10 minutes before vaping. I always rinsed that top cap with hot water every time I changed the coil (and blow air through the holes) Also, try doing "primer puffs" (suck air without hitting fire button) between vapes... keeps the coil saturated. I just saw replacement glass for those really cheap (I'll see if I can find the link) The glass is very thin and breaks easily. Turn it off before carrying in a pocket (fried several new coils forgetting to do that)

Man, I wish I had found this post. When I had the exact same problem, I googled it and only a similar post from 2017 showed up, with no solutions offered.

I ended up fixing it by discovering the exact same thing: that thin indent going around the chrome thing at the top, just above those 0-shaped decorations, is the air intake. It doesn't look like an intake, but trust us: it's the air intake. If you have a habit of overfilling the device (like me), this air intake gets easily blocked. You can fix this problem either by immersing the top piece in hot water, or simply by taking your nail or a stiff piece of paper and running it all around this intake. You'll see some dark-colored resin appears on the paper when you finish. After doing this, it's fixed! Now my PockeX works possibly even better than when it was new.

Try this quick fix before resorting to replacing your coil! The coil is most likely NOT the problem.

Thank you OP. Hopefully this post gets higher on the google search results for other lost souls to be able to fix it.
