Jlarsen: It's just water, like the kind you buy in the store for colds. ;o)

Good thought about putting my creativity toward mixing up solutions for my fiance!

I am so sorry to hear about your friend - We asthmatics tend to take our disease VERY lightly and I've been scolded many times over the years for that. It leads toward reckless/careless behaviors, such as forgetting to take your pills regularly, forgetting to bring your emergency inhaler along at ALL times, etc. It's just easy to take it lightly because we've lived with it all our lives and, for the most part, modern science makes it easier to "forget" we have that disease...until it's too late.

Oh also to let you know, the e-cig's take liquid out of your lungs, they wouldn't help you they would hurt you. I understand what you are saying now, that instead of a water vapor machine, that you would wrather use an e-cig. The e-cir would hurt your lungs, not help you. The vapor takes the moisture out of your lungs, if I have to drink tons of water to make up for it. But if you know someone that is using tobacco, these things are an amazing replacement. As I said I went from 5 packs a day, to just vaping overnight. They are amazing.

5 PAD!? yowzers! I don't think I could smoke 5 PAD if someone put a gun to my head. I'm glad vaping helped you quit so quickly, but I can't even understand how a person could find enough time in the day to smoke 5 PAD. The most I have ever even heard of before now was 4 PAD. Did you set your alarm to wake you up at night so you could smoke? 5 PAD would take about 60% of my current income.

I went through a rough patch in my life when I was depressed, upped my smoking from about 1/2 PAD to 3/4 -1 PAD for a while. It seemed like I was smoking constantly. On a couple of days I smoked maybe 1 1/4 PAD, it was like I had to force myself to smoke more than I could handle.

Though I have smoked 1/2 PAD in as little as 2-3 hours when drinking.

Frostin, I'm glad that you've reconsidered! Now about your fiance...lol.

I will HIGHLY encourage him to get on board with vaping! It's great that he quit smoking for you, but I can completely understand how using other tobacco products might not be satisfactory. Vaping will definitely give him more choices that will taste better and be far less harmful. Besides, kissing someone after they've been vaping is much better! Mmmmm chocolate!

I owned my own business, so I could smoke whenever I wanted to. But we did t smoke in the house, only in the garage. I don't sleep well, so I go to sleep sometime between 10pm-1am, and wake up every half an hour, and when I smoked I would go out to the garage and smoke a couple, surf the web on my iPad, then go back to bed, till I woke up another half an hour later. Then I had to get up at 5am to get the kid off to school. So ya I pretty much chain-smoked all day long, I was buying like 4 cartons a week, they sold for $30.19 a carton for Pal-Malls, I haven't saved any money yet, we've pretty much spent the same on PV'S attys/carto's/batteries/new PV'S. I'm about to buy my last PV though! I'm getting a REO Grand tomorrow, that's the one thing that drives me crazy about vaping, is the constant refilling of carts/carto's/or tanks. So I'm getting a bottom feeder, it holds 7ml before you have to refill it, I VAPE 10ml a day at 30mg, so I'll be able to only bring one spare battery, carto, atty, bottle of juice. That should last me all day.

I agree with what has been said here. If you don't smoke and you have asthma, I don't think vaping will help and it'll probably be detrimental.

I have wondered whether this mechanism would be effective at delivering therapeutic medications, if a pharmaceutical company were to go that route. Just to make it clear, I'm not referring to recreational drugs. It seems like it might be a good fit to deliver medications to someone suffering from the effects of smoking though. You'd get smoking replacement and medication delivery in one package. If you can deliver nicotine this way, why not medication?

Although a pleasant idea the first problem is that the regulations on atomizing the particles to the right size are to strict. They have to be broken down to the right micrometer or the FDA will not approve them. The other problem would be the PR nightmare that would go with it..... I know if it is benificial then we should do it... however, If you consider the fact that a TRUE medical alcohol IV drip that is decreased to zero in order to help an alcoholic "dry out" is probably the best option then ask yourself why we do not use it. I believe it has a lot to do with telling the patients family the treatment.... "well Mr.and or Mrs. Smith we are going to treat you <insert relationship here> with an IV of alcohol" First they would look at us like we were crazy and then they would tell the world about it ,probably incorrectly, and all that before calling their laywer. Yes we would win but the cost would make it fiscally irresponsible. WOW that turned into a rant I am so very sorry. I hope it was at least mildly entertaining.

I'm pretty sure 10 mil a day at 30mg would literally kill me. I'm glad it got you off analogs though.

I vape about 1.5 - 2.0 mils a day at 18mg, and I'm planning on dropping down to 12mg.

I had asthma when I was younger, and still had occasional (very mild) problems in cold weather (mainly when exercising outdoors). I've found that after quitting and switching to PVs I've actually had MORE asthma related problems than before. It's not very bad, but I did have to go back an get an inhaler again (which I didn't have for the 10 years I smoked) and use it maybe a couple nights a week before bed. Generally it's just uncomfortable enough that it makes it hard to sleep, but not a serious attack where I can't breathe at all. To me it just seems like my lungs have cleared out (for the most part) and now are back to their "normal" state. My last PFT came back as normal lung function (which prior to the switch it showed mildly reduced function), so I'm still happy with it.

Yikes!!! No joke I felt like crap just smoking 1 1/2 -2 a day I can't even fathom going through 5!

I've been mildly asthmatics all my life(both of my parent smoked plus I have seasonal allergies)....it was after I started smoking I got worse. As I got older I got, worse my conditions got. Couldn't even make it pass a half of a block and be out of breath. Colds and flu were nitemares for me(steroids, antibiotic, nebulizer and decongestant.) Two years ago, I had a sleep study done, yep I have mild apnea along with a sleep disorder(surgery to help only has 4% success rate) PG does dry me out, however with my bipap(setting at 6/8) has a warm steamer helps hydrate me along with drinking plenty of water.
Since vaping, my need of inhaler is very rare but I still carry it with me(habit). The 3 flu I had, I didn't even need any prescriptions, just over the counter meds, and rest. Have hypersensitive smell, hate those people that put tons of fragrances over bad BO. Alot of my allergies went away(I think smoking can make even the mildest allergy seem worse.)

A non-smoker who are asthmatics I would have to agree with Woman of Hearts and others about do not start vaping
Steaming help thin out the mucus, however IMO PG just either dry you out or mucus seem thicker.
