As all know, "a new atomizer is a good atomizer" (most times...).
I think that this very thick vapor ,produced by a new atomizer is coming from the primer lube that comes from the factory. ones it is gone, the atomizer goes downhill. and even if washed/boiled/steamed etc. it will never get back to the days when it was new and produced very thick vapor because the orig lube is gone.
I also think that maybe some people smoke this lube quickly , not adding juice because they feel heavy thick vapor.
My point is , that if you want to prolong the time that this primer is in the atomizer, you need to refill/ top /drip the atomizer as soon that you taste the atomizer lube (neutral taste) , so you don't cook this primer.
eventually this primer will be gone anyway , but better not to finish it in few days/sometimes hours .

its just e liquid.. a simple two or three drop reprime has it as good as new..

when a cart dries out so does the wire wool around the atomizer pot thats primed.. a couple of drops before a new cart is fitted puts it back..

when carts are wet topped up it dosnt need doing only when they are let dry out... just popping a new cart in dosnt wet the wire wool enough if its been sucked too dry..

trog

the reason its done is without the wire wool being wet the device simply dosnt work..

wire wool feeds the atomizer coil.. cart wool keeps the wire wool wet.. with a mini the wire wool holds more than half what the cart wool holds.. quite a lot..

Still, with a new atomizer, for few days, when the flavor of the juice you put in, let say 2 drops using the dripping method runs out , you get this natural flavor. isn't it the primer? do you say that the primer lube is regular pg?
I never used carts, so I know that 2 drops is 10 puffs or so...

i dont know what kind of liquid they put in only that its has to be there.. its the first stage in the process so to speak.. it gets diluted down quite quickly even thow some of the taste can linger..

if a 901 atomizer is ever fully dried out by blowing boiling or whatever it takes four or five drops to reprime the wire wool that surounds the little pot the heater coil sits in..

the stuff in the bottom section of wire wool can thicken up as well making the atomizer hard to draw thru.. air has to pass thru the wire wool on its way to the heater coil.. it pulls liquid along with it as it does..

all the cart does is to top up the wire wool.. the wetness of the wire wool is the important bit.. which is why it all works quite well with direct dripping..

trog

ps.. normal usage never fully empties the wire wool.. two drops keeps it all going but the wool really holds a lot more than that..

the heart of it all is a small wire coil.. this wire coil is wrapped around a piece of wick material.. it sits in a little pot.. this wick material soaks up e liquid.. the coil is heated to near red hot temperatures.. the liquid in the wick the coil is wrapped around then gets vapourized..

so what goes wrong...

the small piece of wick goes solid and dosnt hold liquid any more.. this happens after xxxx number of puffs.. there is no answer to this except a new atomizer..

the heater coil dosnt get hot enough to do its business.. some do some dont.. none do when the battery wears out..

the wick thing dosnt get enough liquid fed to it.. again some work some dont.. direct dripping works but is a nuisance..

it all pretty simple but does rely on everything working for the cig to work.. if one part of the system isnt working nether will the e cig..

Trog ,
You say 2 weeks is what the atomizer is good for.
In 3 months of smoking Quit heavily, I have never managed to "kill" an atomizer beyond repair. after 2 weeks or less sometimes , the atomizer will get weaker or clogged, but after cleaning it gets up as new. however, not for long. after first cleaning , the atomizer needs more frequent cleaning. is this because of the wick inside the pot that get clogged do a degree that it cannot be cleaned fully? or is it something else?
what make the atomizer loose his power? is it the heating coil maybe?

i think its the wick thing in the coil that simply ceases to be a wick.. the liquid in the wick is the liquid the coil vaporizes.. once it loses it ability to hold liquid or at least enough liquid to produce a certain amount of vapour thats it..

just for the sake of argument lets say it holds when new one quarter of a drop.. heat it up and suck and that one quarter drop of liquid produces xxx amount of vapour...

as it ages it holds less liquid and less vapour gets produced with each suck or activation.. the atomizer starts to enter wimp land..

it can be said some vapour will always be produced.. just not enough for me which is why i say they are worn out when i do.. if a person is happy with less vapour the atomizer will last then longer..

two weeks could be translated into a fixed number of puffs.. a simple time period without knowing how many puffs take place during thta time period is meaningless.. let me pull a figure out of the air.. say 4000 puffs then its worn out..

i cant put exact figures on it.. but when they are only just good enough when brand new we could say a 50% drop off is enough for me to say they are worn out.. but if less vapour is required the useful life will be longer.. more puffs..

i tired very hard to get the big names to say how many puffs per atomizer... none of them would.. none of them dare.. now we all know the buggers wear out quickly given heavy use.. things have changed a bit..

i can press my SD switch and see my atomizer glowing cherry red.. its not the heater coil.. it might go open circuit and die completely but if the battery power is there its always gets hot enough.. which just leaves the one thing.. the wick piece..

That make sense.
Thanks
