Atomizer Cartridge problems with 510 - EGO

Hi All

I have one question that maybe someone can help me with and that concerns
the EGO atomizers/cartridges which I understand are exactly the same as the ones
that go on a 510. The forums are full of mods for the cartridges - tea leaves,
aquarium filter material, spinning, special filling methods and on and on and
on. Indeed when I opened my new EGO today I tried to first use the atomizer and
a cartridge that came in the package and my problems were identical that I've
had with my old 510 atomizer and cartridges.





First when trying to fill the cartridge the stock material that comes inside
one does not want to absorb the liquid ( high quatity 80/20 from Tasty Vapor
& a tried 2 others as well) and the only way you can get the cartridge to
absorb the liquid is to drop 2 drops and tap the cartridge on the desk and it
absorbs - drop and tap, drop and tap etc. Or


remove the material and sturate it and reinsert (messy) - All a hassle. Now
it's full and I prime the atomizer and it vapes OK (for a WHILE) as long as the
material that actually touches the atomizer stays wet! After that it's always
the same for me - After the vaping deterioates (Not Long!) I must add about 3
drops as that is all it will accept. And than it vapes OK ONLY for about 6 or 7
puffs and than you have to add a few drops, vape a very short while, add 2-3
drops , vape for a very short while and on and on! Not very good!





I would greatly prefer using the atomizer over the long haul (over
cartomizers) as this is much more economical but this is just so inconsistant!
And a pain in the rear when out and about. My question to you is - What do you
guys suggest. Is there one mod inparticular that you use or something different
in the way of atomizers or cartridges that someone sells that would allow me to vape
without all the hassles I've been experiencing? Before cartomizers became so
poular what did people do to enjoy electronic cigarettes with an atomizer and
refillable cartridge. It's my memory that when I first started vaping with brand
X electronic cigarettes I did not have near the problems that I do now with JOYE
EGO and 510 atomizers and cartridges.

One thing you can try is the "Blue Foam Mod". You can get them at strictlyejuice.com, and they are cheap. Some people like them, some don't.

I don't like anything with a filler - to me it all ends up tasting burnt and gross.

I started using the joyce ego cartomizer - with and it does have filler but very little. I found I like them. You have to fill the with a syringe but the mega holds 2ml of juice so it lasts a while.

Other than that - i drip.

PTB mod works very well, most of the time taking 5-7 drops at a time to refill when vapor drops off.

Filling new "dry" carts is kind of tedious since the dry filler does not absorb well. I open a paperclip and push the end down the side of the cart then hold the cart at a 45deg angle with the paperclip on top while placing drops on the lower edge. this gives a path for air to get out of the cart and allows it to absorb faster. Sometimes carts come with too much filler which hurts wicking and won't let juice get to the atty. you can remove the filler, trim off about 1/3 of it and reinsert the other piece into the cart. Thicker juices (more vg) need less filler than thinner PG juices to work well without leaking.

Myself, I mostly drip into the atty with a blank/filler removed cart. 3 drops is 8-12 good draws or about the same longevity as an analog cig. Better and more consistent vape even if it is a little more work.

If the filler is too tight, pull it out and trim it a bit with scissors. I use tweezers to push the filler in, pour the liquid, and fluff the filler back up. I also switched to blue foam as filler.

Thanks for the replies. You know as GREAT as everybody SAYS JOYE is I can't believe they don't provide an atomizer and cartridges that just WORK. It seems the only way you can 1/2 way use a JOYE product with an atomizer is to try all kind of jury rigs, modifications and stuff. Why doesn't JOYE or SOMEBODY sell a cartridge that simply works well right out of the package. I started vaping with some kind of E -Cigg that came with an atomizer and cartridges that worked fine. Does anybody sell a cartrige that works with the 510 or EGO that works fine right out of the pack ????

If you don't like the filler have you tried blue foam? Cheap cheap precut pieces for 510 available at strictlyejuice.com.

The blue foam holds its shape, less prone to singeing, so easy to take out and clean under running water and pat dry. If you need to cut your own it is Marineland RiteSize U Foam Sleeve from the aquarium dept of Petsmart.

And try some cartomizers? Now you can use normal and LR ones.

I gave up on carts and moved to the EGO-T system and LR Cartomizer. So much easier then fine tuning a cart and atty. Thas just MHO

It can get very frustrating at times. However, you may want to look into the eGo-T atomizers and tanks. They are fairly new but are a lot simpler to work with. I've been using e-cigs for almost 5 months. My husband quit just yesterday and I have him set up with an eGo-T system. After watching me toss filler with tweezers and drops in cartridges for 5 months, he's very appreciative of the Tank system for a beginner.

Keep in mind that this is all still very new and everyone finds their little niche of comfort and convenience with a variety of solutions.
