Well, I will start this thread by saying that my fiancée and I are VERY new noobies - we've only been vaping a little over a month now. So...we excitedly brought home, opened, and assembled our first vaping tools - 2 eGo-C Twists, which came with the standard CE4 tanks. But we went a little overboard and bought several other tanks as well. The ones we bought were all bottom draw tanks. Well, to make a long story short, I thought that the little white rubber piece on the bottom of the atty post, that goes directly over the wick, was merely for protection during shipping, storage, etc., so I took them all off and threw them away. We have been vaping like this for the past month, until last night my fiancée noticed and said ...?!?! My question is, what is that rubber piece for, is it necessary for the tank/atty, or did I TOTALLY ruin the attys and/or tanks and do we need to stop using them immediately and buy new attys for our tanks??? Please please please help!!! Any and all advice, opinions, experiences will be VERY much appreciated. Thanks from Kristin the overeager undereducated noob.

Do you find that when you try to draw it sounds like slurping through a straw? I *think* those silicon toppers are to keep juice out of the fill hole to avoid flooding. Depending on what brand of bottom-coil attys you bought, you may be able to just buy new heads for them and rinse them out with hot water, rubbing alcohol/vodka then more hot water and replace the head. If they're generic, non-rebuildable clearomizers, you might be out of luck :(

This is a copy/pace of my own post from UKV...good luck

My advice (I've been vaping for more then 3 years) --> get a VV-device (variable voltage) and some sort of atomizers.

I recommend proVari mini, it's really worth it, if you can afford it, it'll save you a lot's of faff!!

When it comes to atomizers there are so many choices & I have tried the most of 'em and here is my top 3 list:

1. Cisco both 306 (for fruit & sweet) and 510 (for tobacco). The most durable atomizer known to me with the highest flavor/durability ratio! Suitable for any liquids chemical w/o additives as well as chemical with additives (Pink Spot, Decadent Vapours, etc.) and organic flavors (HOL, Highbrow, etc)

2. IkenVape both i06 (for fruit & sweet) and 510 (for tobacco). IKV's provide a slightly better flavor then Ciscos but they are MUCH more sensitive. In my experience they can only be used for chemical flavors w/o additives!!!

3. DSA 901 perfectly suited for El Toros as well as chemical tobacco liquids.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When that said, you should probably start with some cheaper atomizers (& perhaps a cheaper mod, although not recommended) I'm currently vaping on some ancient 510 atomizers that I buy for ½ a guid a peace at my local vape store & some just as ancient 306's that I pay a quid a peace, but I miss Ciscos a lot :(.. & it feels like ages since I had my hands on any HOL liquid, & although I make my own organic liquids, it just ain't worth the faff nor do they taste as delicious..

When it comes to flavor cartomizers, tanks or rebuildables are very much inferior to atomizers regardless the condition or quality! Very much inferior!! I find that rebuildables are nothing but a faff when it comes to vaping nicotine & flavor based liquids. In my opinion rebuildables are only suitable for vaping oil-based herbal extractions, like canAbizz or alike!

Atomizers needs constant cleaning otherwise they will slowly lose the flavor, then the drag (vapor production) & eventually they will die! As long as you only vape chemical liquids w/o additives then you need to clean 'em approximately every 30 milliliters. I case of liquids with additives or organic liquids they need to be cleaned EVERY DAY!!! DO NOT let 'en overnight exposed to air!!

To clean an atomizer follow this procedure:

1. Put 'em i alcohol (96% ethanol, isopropyl alcohol might do although I wouldn't recommend it) for at least 12 hours. I use 7 or more at the time and boil 'e once a week!

2. Boil 'em in demineralized or distilled water couple of times or more.

3. Blow the water out and let 'em dry.

4. Enjoy life and the flavor :)
