Vivi Nova issue, getting desperate

Also experienced burning plastic taste with my VN in the past, after reading some threads on ECF I was able to determine that the taste came from the silica sleeve that's separating the +/- wires . Solved the issue simply by removing it using scissor and tweezer. Couldn't find a pic since I already removed mine, but here's the thread that address this issue:

I have a Vivi Nova kit on its way to me now. It's my first purchase and I got the mini after reading many more comments like RANGERmsr's and Ghost rider. It seems that the number of knock offs and clones of the true Vision Vivi Nova is incredible. I used this to help me who I would order from and probably order replacement heads, etc., from in the future:

Thank you everyone for your help! I took at look at one of my new 2.8 atty's that I'm not using to try and see the little "sleeve" that the link mentioned from Cedric's post...I do see it plain as day (thank God). I will give it a try in the next day or so when I switch out a used atty and keep my fingers crossed. If that ends up not working, I will be ok with it...I still have some basic tanks with 1.5 dc cartos that I can use. But, I'm going to be optimistic, until I'm not lol. Thanks you all again for your responses!!!

I do have basic tanks with cartos, they are dual coil 1.5 ohms. Is that the something I should use with a vv? I got the vivi's for vv use, but I am so disgusted with them. I know there are single coils along with dual coils and different ohms...which coil and ohm would be best with vv products? I'll gladly go back to that way if it will end this vivi torture lol.

Vivi novas are still pretty new so all the kinks are still being worked out. Some of us tinkerers love to tear things apart and fix the problems the manufacturer can't. Also some vendors are selling knockoff novas so this can frustrate someone who really wants to just plug and play. As for carto tanks, I love them. Dual coils and vv devices do not get along, to keep this simple I will yell you your best bet will be 2.0 ohm single coil carto at 5v, I promise
