When ever I rinse out an atomizer head it blows. I've seen online where people describe rinsing them in water, then drying them and changing flavors. But, every time I rinse one out, even if I dry it with a blow dryer, it seems to blow. I blow way to many atomizer heads. Can you guys give me any advice along these lines? I know they seem to last longer if I leave them on the same mod, with the same volt/watt settings. But I'm always switching things around - too much, I guess.

I also saw a video on rebuilding disposable atomizer heads, i.e., Kanger heads or Aspire nautilus heads, and they said for better flavor... to soak them overnight in water after you rebuild them. Hmmm. Why would that help? And if I do, I'm afraid they will blow like all the others I wash.

Yes, I do prime them with 2-3 drops of ejuice and then let them sit for 2 minutes. Maybe I'm just missing one of these steps each time I blow one.

Also, I can't seem to find a video on rebuilding duel-coil disposable heads like e-leaf heads. I see they are in there one over the other like a cross, and some (only some) of them have insulation over the legs of the furthest coil. Is it okay if both positive ends touch? (If the positive leg of 1st coil touches the positive leg of the 2nd coil)? Or would this cause a short? Any links or info are much appreciated. Joya

USA. State: Inebriated.
Howdy there.

What do you mean by "blow"? You mean they make a very loud "pop"? This would be normal, just because it'd be the coil burning off any excess water. On that note, vaping water is rather unpleasant, I don't recommend it.

I don't know why you'd soak your coil in water after you rebuild it for better flavor. I've never heard of anyone doing that, and I can't exactly fathom the reasoning behind it.

Also I'd like to know which heads, in specific, you're using. What atomizer are they on top of? I'd assume it's an Aspire Nautilus or something similar. Maybe a Kanger Protank? A lot of people have rebuilt those heads, and to pretty great success. They last about 2-4 weeks for me though, and I don't have a problem just swapping a grimy one out with a fresh one -- the heads are cheap enough, and I'm not good at working with very tiny coils.

I have a Sigelie 150 watt I run at 18-20 watts with RDAs I built using 28g Kanthal and cotton wick: Fogger v3 at .8 ohms and X-Pure at 1.2 ohms. I'm doing okay with these. I LOVE my Fogger (lots of vapor). It took me 2 tries to build it good, but now I can only hope to duplicate my duel coil build on it when it wears out. Also enjoy my X-Pure RDA because it's got good flavor and lots of vapor.

I try to rebuild atomizer heads for Aspire Nautilus Mini tank and Kanger tank. I come up with the correct/similar to orig. ohms on my rebuilds. I use the Nautilus tank on my Cloupor 30 watt and run it at about 9 watts and 4.0 volts. I test it on a volt meter after rebuilding and it comes out about 1.8 ohms. If I rinse it out with water to change ejuice flavors or just clean it, it blows (meaning) I get a burnt taste and need to replace it with a new atomizer head. I've tried drying them out overnight. I'm just not sure why they are blowing/needing to be replaced so often on me. I also have an ITaste v3 vaporizer (square shaped variable volt device) that I run at 8 or 9 watts with a Kanger tank. It has duel coils but if I rebuild it, I've only built it with a single coil at about 1.8 ohms. I use 34 gauge Kanthal for rebuilding atomizer heads.

I'm sorry I can't tell you which video on rebuilding atomizer heads said to soak them overnight after rebuilding (for flavor). I was searching for videos on rebuilding E-Leaf duel coil atomizer heads. It didn't make sense to me either - why soaking them in water overnight would improve flavor. ???

I should probably just buy more new heads and give up on trying to rebuild them. I often switch vaporizers too often. Maybe its the volt change that is burning them out on me. Also have a Sigelei Legend that I run the same 8 to 9 watts and 3.9 to 4 volts. I do do do prime new heads and give them 2 minutes to absorb juice before I puff on them. Hmm.? Why do my new heads only last 4 days and my rebuilt heads only last 2 days? ??? I am using 3 devices each day and puffing all day. When a tank gets hot (after 4 puffs in a row) I stop and switch to another device.

I tried water and rubbing alcohol. Never worked for me. Always tasted burnt after. YOu should get a kanger subtank mini or lemo2. Easy to rebuild. Sounds like your trying to save a buck so rebuilding is the way to go. Even if you pay to have your coil wrapped, (5 bucks) you can dry-burn and rewick for days on end. Saves lots of loot.

Hey Dom, Thanks so much for your input. I already do have some RDAs and also a Fogger v3 that I rebuild, and it has a tank. Also a couple more that are clones from Fastech. Ah, here's a cut and paste list of all my atomizers and the notes I've accumulated on them I have a Sigelie 150 watt I run the sub-ohm devices on and the others I run on either my Cloupor(s) 30 watt or IVP mini.

Big Dripper Styled RDA 22mm, SS + Glass, 3.2ml with spring/ juice pump – Leaks out air holes / SKU: 1926201 * I gave this one away. Rebuildable Dripping Tank Atomizer - Problem building – Leaks juice out air holes because deck fills up with too much juice coming thru a hole in the roof of the deck. This hole has a screw in it and the screw has a hole in it. It is screwed in an upward direction. I realize there must be a way for juice to travel from the tank to the coils/deck, but too much is pushed when you use the pump. Even if you don’t use the pump, too much fluid travels thru this hole onto the deck.

Fogger V4 RBA KGO TECH - Love it. Tons of vapor. Flavor - still some machine oil taste.

Genesis Style RBA 2.5mL Stainless Steel Mesh wick / SKU: 1281801 - Don’t know how to build. NEED HELP. Did watch videos on wire mesh builds. Understand it, but need to see actual build in this type tank.

Orchid V6 Styled RTA (Style C), 22mm, SS + Glass / SKU: 2030700 U-Tube build: See notes prevent leaking. Figured out the leaking issue. It's how you fill it. Must be very patient and fill it slowly. Even if you don't and juice gets into the air holes, after that juice leaks out the holes, it stops leaking.

Patriot RDA 22 mm - Ok, but sounds like a Tea Pot.

Plume Veil Copper - Tastes like copper. Have it on a Copper 4-Nine mechanical mod. I'm not much for mechanicals. Glad I tried them though. I also had a Chi You clone, but I gave it away. Finally eliminated the battery rattle/poor power connection. It was such a poor quality clone that it didn't adjust for battery rattle anywhere.

Rcomen V3 Styled RTA 22mm, SS + PMMA, Translucent / SKU: 2096000 Tank broke. Need to get replacement. Vapor production was minimal, taste was good.

SmokTech Xpure RDA Authentic -SS + Ceramic Deck, Silver / SKU: 1960200 - My favorite RDA. Flavor and vapor are excellent.

Non-Rebuildables:
Aspire Nautilus Mini BVC - Good - for use on Cloupor 30 watt that won't accept sub- ohm tanks.

Kanger Aerotank Mini BDC Glassomizer w/ Airflow Control -Hated it. No vapor. Gave it away.

Aspire Atlantis BVC Sub-Ohm Tank - Ok, but like my Aspire Nautilus better because of the way it draws. I like mouth hits. Don't like to feel like I'm sucking wind.

E-Leaf Melo (sorry I may have said I had a Lemo eairlier, I don't). This is similar to Aspire Atlantis Sub-Ohm Tank. I like it better. I has multiple air holes and works the same. Coil heads are interchangeable with Atlantis.

ICE-BDC cartomizer! With new BDC coil from iSmoka/Eleaf _ I just love this $9 thing. Use it on Cloupor 30 watt (with an adapter for 5/10 connection) and/or on my ITaste 3.0 at about 8.2 watts.

Eleaf GS16 eGo Connection GS16 eGo (2.5ml Tall Version) Love it. Great hit, great vapor production. Clean vape. Never gets hot. Use on Cloupor or Sigelie Legend 15 watt device set at 8.2 watts.

Kanger Tank - I guess that's what it is. It was on my South Beach Smoke "Thunder" vaporizer. I like this tank and vape a mix of Peaches and Vanilla Custard in it every day. It has a small bullet-shaped mouth piece that I like. It gets hot after 4 drags though, No matter what I put it on. Max to run it is 8.2 watts and about 3.8 volts.

Like I was saying, I don't know why I burn up so many coils. Ya, I should and do just buy more. Just wanted to do some experimenting with rebuilding them if possible to save money and to understand how they work, ect., i.e., learn as much as possible. I'm a hobby jewelry maker, so it's no trouble for me to work with small parts or wire. I can't seem to get away with washing any coils out in water or they blow/burn up and I get a burnt taste and must replace them with a new coil. Thanks for all your help and I hope some of this info is good for the other people here. I'm really not ready right now to get another dripper or sub-ohm rebuildable right now. Something with heat fins or something unusual will come and then I'll get it. I'm also looking into twisted wire coils and wonder what the advantages are. More studying till I decide if I'll try that. Love this site and sharing info. It is very helpful and also relieves being alone on this subject. I have knowone to share with . XO corney.

Take care, Joya
