Feeling pretty stupid but I got this little thing to taste test juices. Trouble is I am not sure the right way to use it. It looks like a shortened 510 cartomizer with a mesh type thing inside instead of polyfill and airtube. The drip tip for it has some spongey filler material inside it. My question is where am I supposed to drip?

Not sure how to post pics or links. It is about half as long as a Blu cartomizer and inside at the bottom is a metal mesh type heating element. The other half is like a drip tip with a small hole on the mouth end and some white foam type material in the other end. You can remove the foam when cleaning then just push it back in. This drip tip half just gets inserted into the cartomizer end. It is made by joyetech.

Sounds like a 2-piece joyetech atomizer and cartridge.

(Where the term CARTO-MIZER comes from -- a combination of a cartridge and atomizer in one)

Atomizer:
Joyetech 510 Atomizer

Cartridge:
Joyetech 510 Empty Cartridge(5pcs)

My advice: Throw the cartridges away, drip directly on top of the mesh bridge, use a 510 drip-tip (or a cartridge without the polyfill)

I got a 306 atomizer to test e-liquids with. Tried it out last night. When I did it right, it worked fine. When I didn't, I got a big mouth full off burnt metal. I got to the point where I really didn't want to take the next puff because I was afraid I would get the burnt taste.

I'll play with it some more this weekend and see if I can get it right, but right now I'm thinking I'm just going to buy a bunch of cheap cartos and use those to test new flavors with.

I did rather well on atty+cartridge before Boge cartomizers got popular. Funny, I'm not sure some things work that much better since. (clearos and cartos)

Do some research on dripping in the Atomiser section of this forum. The Cartridges you have, well, you just fill them until they're "slushy" on top, prime the atty with a few drops, and vape away. Gently.

Some of the best cartos are cheap already- you can find great Boges for 75 cents/free shipping.

I still love atomizers for dripping.

    OK, they're right. It's a 2 piece atomizer. (Atty)
    - The atomizer (the metal part that you screw onto the e-cig)
    - The cartridge (cart)

Now, the good news is that if you have a drip tip with any of your other stuff, you don't need that cart. You can use it if you wish, but you don't need it. It's not straight-thru like a drip tip. So you'd have to take it off to drip into the atomizer.

If you use the cart and don't use a drip tip, pull out the filler and cut off the flat part on the end so it doesn't melt if the atty gets hot. That filler is supposed to hold juice and wick it to the bridge (the center post in the atty) but it doesn't work well at all. If you're dripping, just bypass it by removing and trimming.

Once it's primed you drip as follows:

drip about 3 or 4 drops (try 3 first) onto the bridge.
vape until it starts to taste "dry" ...about 10 or so hits.
    repeat forever

Yeah, I just recently started dipping my toe into the carto world and I found some good deals on cartos. I'm not sure why I went to all that trouble of hunting down a site to buy a 306 atomizer from in the first place.

You guys are amazing. The items in the links are exactly what I have. So, I pulled out the polyfill and 2 drips directly on the mesh at 3.4v and I am surrounded by a huge delicious chocolate cloud! I bought this to try and figure out why my Johnson Creek juices have NO flavor. The Domestic and Tennessee Cured were my absolute favorites for 1 week. Then suddenly I could no longer taste either one. That was 4 weeks ago and I still cannot taste them. I 'll keep trying them in my new little Taste Tester thanks to you guys!!!

 Damn, you just took me back a few years ... someone is actually still selling these??? Ahh the good ole 510 atty ... I didn't read through the thread but I am pretty sure that someone has already told you to just pull out the poly fill in the mouthpiece, and pull that mouthpiece off and drip onto the atty, ... That 510 atty w/a manual 510 battery was my very first set up, and is perfect for testing new flavors ... fond memories :)

OK, so I came home and decided to give it another shot. I used the bridgeless atty instead of the one with the bridge. I think the bridge was what was throwing me off. Still not sure if I'm doing it right, but I did get some nice flavor out of some samples I bought. I think it's working well enough that it'll be a good way to screen all the samples I bought.

I usually drip with bridged atomizers...the bridge is just wire mesh that holds juice. Well, it's really a metal wick with silica wicks to the coil at the bottom.

You can drip with either regular or bridgeless atomizers. The bridged ones are more common and less of a gimmick. The driping atomizers are a rip-off IMHO. If you're not being a dufus and burning the juice, the bridge helps hold the juice. Does NOT harm the flavor at all, contrary to popular "sell expensive dripping atomizer" myths.

I've tried HH whatever and XX,YY,ZZ thingys and they are all usable and you can get a good vape and flavor out of all of them. I go for the higher ohm ones on; I think they hold up longer. However, not all brands of atomizers are equal. I liked the Joye ones pretty well. Lasted a month or two of dedicated dripping before I'd swap em out or they'd die. Blow them out and clean em regularly. I'd avoid dry burns...except as a last resort/resurrection method before tossing them.
