I love the mini RDA's! They're extremely easy to clean, simply run some water through the wick and dry burn and you're done! I was in the same boat as you thinking that i would never want to rebuild them but my curiosity got the best of me and i wanted to chase the clouds. So if later down the road you want to get creative and build your own coils you still have that option with these. And the flavor from dripping is amazing!

I was going the 510 atomizer route to sample different flavors until I saw the mini RDAs, like these at FT:
https://www.fasttech.com/products/1411/10004860/1395707

Wouldn't it make more sense to use the RDAs, even if I don't rebuild them? Same price and they seem a whole lot easier to clean than a 510 atty and then toss them or even use a pre-built wire and wick from FT to keep them going, like these:
https://www.fasttech.com/products/1353407

What am I missing?
Thx!

Heck, I don't think you're missing anything. These look cool and very useful. Thanks for sharing. I had no idea they existed and were this cheap :thumb:

Not sure I follow, if I'm dripping into an atomizer or an RDA (that I'm not rebuilding), what's the difference in time?

I was referring to me. I don't have time to deal with little replacement coils. I like to put an atty on my device and be done with it. :)

No sense in getting replacement coils from slow tech for your RDA or Mini RDA when you have american vendors like madvapes and avidvaper offering the same. Check it out folks, prices are fair and shipping is going to be faster than FT.

ETA: Rebuildable Atomizer Coils With Non-Resistance Leads - Avid Vaper Or enter "RDA" in the search box over at Madvapes.com to find the replacememt coils @ $2.50/ea.

I enjoyed the 3 ohms replacement coils for my cheap stainless steel Mini RDA (nicknamed the Squid because of its wicks). Getting SS is important because anodized colors may contaminate your juice over time! Saw it on a grimgreen octopus review once, scary stuff folks.

I love my Mini RDA from Smoktech, it's so effecient for sampling juices not a single drop goes to waste (Juice abuse folks, juice abuse let's stomp it out once and for all!) and with pre-assembly options available, like training wheels, you'll be able to vape while you learn. Plus the flavor is so rich and my little Squid packs a punch! Nothing beats dripping juice-to-coil!

I Bought the actual Squid @ RTD Rebuildable Atomizers : Stainless Steel Mini Smok Tech RDA

Get an RDA, wind a micro coil for it, slip a THIN strip of cotton ball material through it, and drip. Once done, pull the cotton, wash it, dry burn it, and install a new cotton strip.

It'll take a bit to determine the right thickness of cotton for your coil. The cotton swells when wet. Too much and you choke off juice getting to the coil. Too little and you lose some flavor and get dry hits more frequently. You get the hang of it pretty quickly.

There are more dripping atties & RDA's to choose from than you can count, and each one will perform just a little differently. So the only way you will ever know which one you like best is to try several.

IMO the key to finding a dripper that you like is to list both the things you like/want and the things you don't like/won't put up with.

My list was that I wanted taste, and vapor production & throat hit were secondary to taste (less important)
What I would not put up with was leaking (you only need to lay your PV in your lap once while laid back in the old recliner watching TV to figure out why)

So my list of wants & don't wants eliminated any atty/RDA that relies on a side hole for air. It also meant that a drip shield was a must for any atomizer I would choose to use. It also meant that there had to be a lack of what I call "clutter" inside the atty/RBA. (stuff for applications other than dripping)
Even with those limitations I found that there were more than enough choices of both atties & RBA's.

My personal choices are the Joyetech LR 510-T atomizer (wick plate removed), and the A7 & A7 mini RDA's.

I have 2 cisco spec atty's from Avidvaper for tasting. Got 2 for 20$ with a drip tip. There are so many types and vendors it's hard to make a recommendation. Just try some and see what you like. I have an IGO-W and some Ekowool coming in the vape mail tomorrow and can't wait to try my first dual coil build.

I've noticed that flavor is different device to device. What tastes great in my 501 atty is muted in my Tatroe Tank with SS wick sometimes. Certain flavors taste the same. It's weird. I recently got a Genesis style atty and that has great flavor. For vaping out it's the Tatroe and I just can't seem to get TFA Juicy Peach to work with it. First vapes great then literally no flavor. Juices will have to be dialed in for the best device for them and all day vapes will go in the Tatroe.'

As far as sampling you can't go wrong with a cheap to mid priced 501 atty. I've been happy with it so far.

I originally bought a couple of the SmartVapes 510 Dripping Atomizer and just wasn't overly pleased with it. For me I could only put about 3 drops in it before it leaked and would only get about 5-7 hits off of it. Then I got one of the cheap RDAs from Fasttech and love it so much more so that I don't use the SmartVapes dripper.
One piece of advice though is to get an RDA that has holes in the post for your coil. The one I have doesn't have the holes and it can be a pain to connect it especially with 28g kanthal. Sometimes it comes off the post as well and I get really weak vapes. I can put much more juice into the RDA and get substantially many more hits from it.

I have both dripping atomizers and RDAs. I would say to try out a dripping atomizer before you get an RDA. RDAs are probably some of the easiest to rebuild, but that doesn't mean they are necessarily easy to rebuild them.

You can buy some cheap atomizers that will give the idea. It isn't as simple as sticking a premade coil inside an RDA. Try a dripping atomiZer before taking the plunge on an RDA.

This is really good advice. Don't pass it over too quickly. It guarantees really accurate flavor when sampling.

Also, as others have said, the 510 dripping atomizers are pretty amazing too. The cheapo one that came with my k100 was one of my favorite things to vape for the week it lasted.

Thank you for all the replies, very enlightening. I did in fact try out the 510 atomizers (not the cheapo ones either) and quickly grew tired of them; they really don't last, are a pain to clean, can't see anything to dry burn them correctly... I've even de-wicked then de-bridged some in the hope that things might improve; that's why I'm hoping RDAs might be easier to handle, even as throwaways...

Nico, are you talking about just regular cotton balls, like one might have around the house?
    Thx
