Hi all,

I've been using my newly acquired Joye eGo for the last few days, and I noticed that one of the atty's heating element no longer glows red (after activating for a few seconds) although it seems to work OK. The other atty will glow red however.

Does this means my atty went bad (the one that doesn't glow) or does it need to be cleaned?

Thanks!

I had the same concern, however using both my 510 attys back to back I actually get better flavor and good vapor from the one that doesn't glow. The one that I have used less (and quickly glows red) seems to diminish the flavor of the juice. Cleaning will make the one not glowing heat up faster, but I am not so sure this is an advantage, at least with manual batteries. YMMV.

I usually clean mine when they get gunked up like that. Just blow it out and give it a soak in 91% Isopropyl Alcohol for a little bit (until the IA drains from the battery end in a stream, or at least steadily.) Let it dry overnight and try it again. If you don't want to wait, you can run it under hot water, blow it out and then do a dry burn until the coil starts glowing orange again. Once it's glowing again, cycle through a few more burns. Let the coil turn orange for a few seconds, let off the button for a few. Fire it again for a few and let off for a few. You should be good to go then.

It can. It's not usually a big deal, but I've experienced a noticeable decrease in vapor production when it gets really gunked up. I vape a lot of darker juices (coffee and chocolate types) and 50/50 mixes which seem to build up faster than lighter juices with less VG. I think cleaning them and using them in rotation helps prolong their life. Some people might say different, but that's been my observation. Out of the original 6 attys I bought 2 months ago I've only lost one so far.

This may just mean that one atty is more wet with juice then the other. Sometimes my attys won't ever glow red like that but they will continue to pump out lots of vapor. Then when it gets dry again it starts to glow again. Just a thought. Nevertheless I clean all my attys once a week in either just boiling water or a quick soak in alcohol just to know that all that gunk and old juice is gone. Can never be too clean!
