Let’s try to explain the atomizer technology of the e-cigarette in plain English. The atomizer is the part of the e-cigarette that converts the e-liquid into water vapor. The atomizer is a small metal tube. Inside it, there’s a tiny c l uster of metal wires—the heating component, and a micro pump. Depending on the model of the e-cigarette, atomizers vary in shape and size.

If I'm not mistaken, it doesn't convert e-liquid to water vapor. Once the PG/VG are vaporized, they then pull available moisture from the environment.

Please correct me if I'm wrong :) but thats just how I've come to understand it.

Not entirely sure what 'pump' they are referring to either? Seems almost all delivery systems are passive, using a wick.

A good and bad aspect to the constant changing world of PVs, we get exciting new gear pretty much every week, but keeping accurate up-to-date documentation isn't as easy.

Oh 2009, we've come a long way.

My real quick attempt at describing an atomizer:

Consists of a heating element wrapped in a coil formation, with a wicking material passed through the center. The wick, well, wicks the liquid to the coil, making it available to be vaporized. In a cartomizer, instead of a wick there is wadding to hold the juice and slowly deliver it to the coil in the base.

Once an electrical current is applied to the heating element/coil, it will begin to vaporize the available juice to be inhaled by the user.

TBH, its not great but I think its less convoluted and easier to follow than the link. :p

The HH.357 kind of works on a pump system. For it to work properly you need to pull hard enough to create a vacuum effect to pump the liquid suspended in mesh below the coil so it flows over the coil as you vape. Works exremely well, but unless you vape hard you won't get the vacuum pump effect. Would be nice to have an atomizer that pumps liquid to the coil while taking a lazy, long draw.

Of course real men would want a gas powered pump on their atty, no little weak electric pump. Just whip out your mod and pull the little starter cord. On cold morning you would have to open up the choke like a chainsaw....

braaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaapppp.....pop-pop-pop....

 That could give a whole new meaning to flooding your atty.
