I've figured out why my throat was burning/tingling slightly... my atomizer has burned out. I'm going back to TV because they're again going to replace it and I really want to have an atomizer ASAP, but I'm buying back-up atomizers online tonight.

I think I am taking too heavy of drags, and I'm burning it out. Is it because I'm using the atomizer with the filter tips of poly-fil and vapor juice? I know that there are other means of vapor, like the cigarette tip with a built in atomizer, but I'm not really sure how everything works. 0_0

Sorry for a thread subject that might be tedious and repetitive, I just need to get some help. x_x

If the atty's get to dry they will burn out, might be puffing on the cart's to long with out adding more juice. Perhaps consider direct dripping or cartomizers, carto's are pretty easy to use, direct dripping you just need to purchase a drip tip. Always a good idea to have a few spares on hand, I mostly use cartomizers and drip maybe 20% of the time but I still like 8 atty's laying around.

Atomizers can be touchy, some just don't work, it isn't your fault. When you get an atomizer make sure you blow it out good then try it but not inhaling until it tastes right. You do need to have back ups, my first 2 atomizers died in a week, my next two have been going for over 2 months and are fine. There are two other methods, right now you are using cartridges or what they will call carts on here, one of the other methods you are talking about is cartomizers which have the atomizer and cart in one piece. They can work well too but can be a pain to refill and have to be cleaned and replaced after a few fillings. The last way is to use a drip tip, with this you put the atty on and the drip tip slides onto the atty, this is the method I use. I fill a small bottle of juice and I am good for the day. You drip about 4 or 5 drops onto the atomizer to get it primed then vape until the taste changes or tastes kind of burnt, then add 3 drops and vape away, you just repeat that and it should work fine. There is less upkeep to your vaping this way, only thing you have to do is clean the atty once in awhile. I do mine about once a week.

So far I've been unable to get a cart to keep the atty wet for more than 2 drags and I can get more drags than that from direct dripping 3 drops, so I've not been using any carts. Might try the blue foam cart mod at some point when my dogs run out of food and I have to go to PetSmart. You can find info on that by searching this site for "blue foam mod," might keep your atty wet longer than the polyfilled cart. I loved cartos on my KR808-D1 but now I've switched to a Riva and the cartos are different and complicated, so I just direct drip. But I still like the idea and convenience of cartomizer (which is what you're calling a cigarette tip with a built in atty). What you're calling the filter tip with poly-fil is a cart (cartridge). Just thought that might help you decipher some of what you read on the forum. Good luck!

Atties are tricky little devils. If you do decide to go with cartomizers make sure you get the soft tip ones that pop off so you can refill them easy. The hard ones are a pain in the keister to keep filled. A drip tip is nice but not always necessary you can always just drill a hole through a cartridge, or take it off and drip onto the bridge. If the atty is still getting hot it isn't fried. The off taste can be a few things, one is if it gets too dry. This burns the juice. The other can just be gunk getting built up on the bridge and that tastes funky too. There are about a million ways to clean them and it seems like everyone has their own method. I don't clean mine anymore. I just keep them full and toss them when they start to taste funky. I went on Alibaba express and ordered 65 of them they cost me $98 delivered and I haven't killed one yet. but it did take a month to get them.

Mine is producing heat, but the vapor it's producing just tastes weird. It just... burns my throat pretty bad, and I can barely taste the flavor. I tried topping off my cart and I even put two drops on the atomizer but no luck. I did clean it yesterday, I forgot to mention this... maybe it just broke from me cleaning it?

There may be cartomizers aka cartos for your PV - you didn't say what your PV is. Cartomizers are not expected to last as long as atomizers.

I'm using carts and atomizer. As soon as it starts to give less vapor, I top off the cart with ejuice. if it's topped off and still tastes wrong, I blow out the atty into a tissue to make sure it isn't flooded. if it still taste bad I replace the cart and alcohol wash the old one and its stuffing. Since I've been using the atty for a week, I will be washing it in alcohol overnight then letting it dry for a day, meanwhile switching to my other atomizer.

I had the exact same thing happen. check out this video. YouTube - How to remove your Wick (Mod)

I watched the video and followed the directions, and I fould those little wicks to be totally burnt black in the center. As soon as I removed them, and started direct dripping, the burnt taste was gone.
You may still be able to use carts with fill. Try it out. I prefer dripping, and I know if you remove the bridge, you definitely can only drip.

Sometimes attys just go bad. They aren't meant to live forever, which is unfortunate, but you might be able to rescue it.

Highping's Atty Resurrection Method

Try that and see if it works. If it doesn't, you might be able to de-bridge it and use it for dripping.

I'm just nervous to try this I only have one (probably fried) atty, and I'll be getting only one more today. I'm buying some online today, but I won't get them for a while now.

This is so frustrating, I almost bought a pack of analogs...

Take a deep breath it will be ok. Do try the dry burn it does help get rid of the funky taste (at least most of the time). I recommend you purchase several attys at one time because they do go bad - some will last months while others can last less than a week. I highly recommend dripping, I had such a hard time with carts because I take very long drags. Remember above all else it takes time to get things just right so be patient with your self you'll get there eventually.
Best of luck.

The drip method - instead of using the prefilled carts buy a drip tip. The drip tip goes on just like the cart except there is no filler material. Take a bottle of eliquid and drip 3-4 drops after doing the dry burn. Take a few drags to get it going and put in another drop or two of liquid. After 3-4 very long drags or 4-7 short ones you will notice the taste change at that point put in about 3 drops. Every time you notice the change in taste add another 3 or 4 drops of eliquid.

raynen. are you using the stock filler? that stuff tends to dry up pretty quick. i have not had a problem with a dry atty since i switched to the blue foam mod. you might try that. as far as atty care...i'd suggest keeping it simple. blow out the extra juice daily by putting a piece of paper towel inside (WITH OUT TWISTING IT) and blowing until you don't see juice coming out anymore. when vapor production starts to drop off, rinse the atty in hot water (you can do a 15 min bath in denture cleaner if really bad) then blow it out and let it dry. then re-prime the atty. good luck
