yes the lr attys/ cartos will drain the battys faster due to the fact that they draw more current. They should only be used with 3.7v and are used to simulate hv vaping. An HV atty/ carto are designed to run (depending on ohm rating) from 5-7.4v and are basically designed to run at those voltages as normal, unless you use a say 3.5ohm at 6v it would run pretty hot.

Ok, so on my next purchase, I'm going to get some attys that aren't LR. Is there a specific resistance range that I should be looking for? I'm not satisfied with the battery life of my current mod, but not sure how many ohms I should be looking at.

I guess I could do the math...

750-900 mAh batteries.
Let's split the difference and say 825mAh.
Then let's assume I'll get 75% of that in practical use. ~600mAh

My 1.7 ohm LR attys look something like this:
I = V/R
I = 3.7 / 1.7
I = 2.18 Amps

Meaning that with 600mAh of power, I should get about 17 minutes of constant use.

If I got a 2.5 ohm atty, that'd be 41 minutes of constant use.
3.2 ohm atty... 52 minutes.

Or another way of looking at it, I get about 4 hours of medium usage now. (2 hours heavy, 6 hours light).
With 2.5 ohms, about 9.5 hours of medium usage, with a 20% discount for longer hits... about 8 hours.
With 3.2 ohms, about 12 hours of medium usage, with a 40% discount for longer hits... about 7 hours.

How are my assumptions on the increased length of hit/draw/activation-time?

I would stick to the LR attys. You'll get better flavor, TH, and vapor with them; and they should do fine on your 14500 batteries. I use the LR510 attys on my REO Minis & they run on 14500 batteries. They batteries get me through about 6 to 8 hours of vaping. The LR attys burn hotter than regular attys which accounts for the increase in flavor, etc..

Fair enough, but I'm still going to order some 2.5 Ohm attys the next time I place an order somewhere. I'd really like to be able to go 'round the clock on one device, one battery, and one bottle of juice, and feel confident that I can do so.
